Zane

I was a little bit nervous. I was excited at first, but my nerves went shaky as I approached the school grounds.

I didn't know how he would react to me actually going for it and talking to him. Usually, I just ignore him or avoid his existence all together, but that time it was going to be different. I reached my locker and opened it. I put my stuff in and took out the books I needed in my next two classes as I didn't have enough time to go from class to the locker and then to another class. I also took my notebook and the binder. I closed the locker and spun to head on my way to class. It didn't go as smoothly as I expected, because I bumped into someone and both my books and theirs fell to the floor. I didn't recognize who it was at first, but as we scurried to pick up the books, I recognized her immediately. It was Madeline Kinsley.

Madeline was one of the most popular girls at school. She was friends with the richest and most snobby students. I really disliked her clique, but I knew for sure that she was friends with Gavin, and Gavin, sadly, was an exception. At least for now.

But what was she doing creeping up behind me. She probably mistook me for someone else.

"Umm. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to drop your books," I apologized, but I wasn't apologetic. She was the one close behind me.

"Oh it's fine," she said, brushing off her clothes with her hand and flicking away her hair behind her back. She was really pretty, and from what I knew, smart too.

"Soo?" I spoke when she didn't say anything.

"You know I'm having my birthday party on Friday. Well of course everyone knows" Sadly yes, everyone knew, including me. But usually not everyone was invited, and honestly not everyone wanted to be invited. "So... would you like to come?" Oh.

Wait, what? So I was invited. "Are you inviting me to your party?"

"Yes, silly!" Why was she so happy? Did she not know she was talking to Zane Murad? The Arabian outcast.

The first bell rang and we both had to go, so I said that I'll think about it. She told me I could bring anyone I want as she left. Oh, André was going to freak out. Like I said before, it wasn't an easy party to get to.

I went to class and Gavin was already there. He was his usual cold self towards me. But with others, he was the epitome of brightness and happiness, like always.

I took the seat on his left and turned to him.

"I need to talk to you," I said bluntly. He didn't even realize that I was talking to him at first.

"What do you want?" His tone was as cold as he looked.

I looked sideways and noticed that it was really not the place to talk. "We need to talk after class or at lunch,"

"That can't happen," I was starting to lose my patience.

"And why is that?"

"Because I'm busy. Look," he looked around him and saw that no one was in earshot "What happened on Saturday was a mistake, and it's not gonna happen again. I would appreciate it if you just go back to your life and let me go back to mine."

Was he for real? I was trying so hard not to scream. Nope, it wasn't going to be his call this time.

"Listen to me, Gavin," I said loud enough for him to hear but not to draw too much attention. "You'll meet me in Art class after school, and we're gonna talk. And," he looked as if he was ignoring everything I was saying. I pursed my lips "I'll show you the stupid binder." It was like I had the magical power of sucking in attention because it felt like all his senses awoke upon hearing that. He simply nodded and didn't have much time to do anything else before the teacher showed up.
