"Lindsay..." I said desperately, not able to find the right words.
"Vande, dont. Just dont. We both knew the risks being together, and he went honorably. I guess thats all I couldve asked for in this life for him" Lindsay said, suddenly finding her courage. Her eyes now a little more taken by the darknesss now had a sttely look that was still a welcoming look, but inly for a short few. All others, I think, would be unfortunate to cross her.
"It's over now, it's okay guys" Ava said, encompassing us all in a hug.
I looked around and assessed the damage. The attack was devastating. There was about 50 of the kids before the attack. Now there was only 15. Most, if not all of their possessions had been destroyed. I think the worst was the emotional toll of seeing their dead brothers and sisters though.
We spent the better part of the rest of the day helping them clean up everything that had been destroyed. We buried Brock, with a Cupid's bow for his father. Lindsay was heartbroken, but I knew she was strong and could get past it. Ironically enough, our quest never came up, we were just there to help them.
When the cleaning up was done we went and found Tori who was with Lindsay. "I hate to bring this up, but we still need to talk about our quest" James said.
"No you are right. Please, I know you are noble, and I would trust you with any one of us. I just do not know who we can spare in these times" Tori responded with some difficulty.
"Tori, you know its me. I know you remember the prophecy as well as I do" Lindsay said, looking sadly to her elder.
"I had hoped it would not come for some time, but yes" Tori said, obviously discouraged at being confronted with whatever prophecy Lindsay spoke of.
Lindsay's mood darkened, knowing she was abandoning all that she knew and leaving them in such a time "I'm so sorry Tori, but I feel like this is what I was born to do. I'll make you proud, itll be long form now and ill be able to do some good for everyone else" Lindsy said, with an even darker tone than that of her face.
Tori attempted a fake smile, "Please, stay the night, and you can leave in the morning. Those kids need anything to get their spirits up, and I'm sure they would love to get to know some new people" Tori said.
Oh gods, this will be interesting.
We all got our stuff ready for in the morning and went and sat down with the Aphrodite kids. Somber and put out from the days activities, they perked up at having something new to discover in that of the five of us.
"So Chris, Truth... Or Dare?" One of the girls said.
