I woke up confused.  My ears were ringing,  The acrid scent of smoke ride through the air.  The girl who hadn't noticed me earlier was trying to get my attention. She looked terrified. She spoke in a small,  terrified voice. "A-A-Are you okay?"

Then pain shot through my right arm.

"Aaaaah! My arm!" I looked down and saw blood everywhere.  I couldn't move it at all.

She whimpered,  "I know."

"Please,  go get help!"

She gestured at her legs, they'd been crushed.  "I can't move.  It hurts!" She wailed.  Sobs racked her small frame.  I grabbed her hand with my left arm,  She looked at me with tears streaming down her face.  "What do we do?"

"I guess we wait."

Muffled cries came from all around. Pain,  fear,  worry.  It was drowning us.  I was still bleeding heavily from my arm, and eventually blackness closed in on my vision.

I woke up on a gurney. I must have been in a hospital.  I couldn't move my arm,  But it was hurting worse than anything I've ever experienced. I looked down,  my arm was bleeding so badly that it was pooling.  It was bending unnaturally in several places.  Somebody,  was trying to stop the bleeding,  which hurt even more,  But I couldn't move away.  I just silently sat and cried.

And darkness took over again.
