~~~Epilogue~~~
A year later…
I groaned and leaned against the bathroom counter. This whole month I had been feeling sick. The only way I know a vampire gets sick is when they drink passed the victim’s life. I haven’t done that ever, I had been getting my blood from James. He enjoyed when I did it. He says it turns him on. I just shook my head every time. I groan again and held my stomach. I was glad James was doing rounds at the moment or he would be worried sick if he knew.
I got up and exited the bathroom. I felt off in a way. I was tired more, moodier, I felt human in a way. I craved more blood on days and craved James body almost always. I would say I was horny but I didn’t know why. I could guess I found him more attractive. I mean James wasn’t complaining or anything. He liked my spontaneous moments where I dragged him away to our room and had my dirty way with him. He’d boast saying I couldn’t get enough of him.
I’d just shut him up by threatening that I could go else where. He didn’t like it when I said that and liked to show me who I belonged to. I didn’t complain when he did. I liked the way he showed me who I belonged to. I shook my head from any dirty thoughts. I didn’t need to fuel my desire. By the time James did get back, I would pounce on him. I sighed and headed down stairs. Some teens ran by me shoving me a little. I clenched my teeth from snapping at them.
I also found I lost my temper more. I continued my way to the living room. I needed something to distract myself. I entered and sat down with a sigh.
“You look terrible,” Lisa stated glancing at me.
I gave her an annoyed looked not at all humored by her statement.
“I feel terrible,” I groaned closing my eyes.
“I’m surprised James isn’t worrying sick about you,” she said.
I scuffed, “I hide this side of things from him as best as I can. It’s nothing he needs to worry about,” I said.
“I think you should tell him, it may not be anything,” she said concerned.
I opened my eyes and looked at her, “What could it be?” I asked sarcastically.
“Well, I heard a rumor—I’m not sure if it’s true or not—but I think it might,” she said not meeting eye contact.
“What is it?” I asked flatly.
“Well…,” she stalled. “I heard this rumor that the only other time a vampire female gets sick is when…” the last part wasn’t audible because she said it so quietly.
“When what?” I asked giving my full attention.
“When…they’re…,” again the last part wasn’t audible.
I hissed in annoyance, “Spit it out already,” I said losing my temper a bit.
“Pregnant! Okay? When they’re pregnant,” she finally said.
“What are you saying?” I asked hoping against hope.
“I’m saying you’re pregnant. Have a bun in the over. Having a baby! And I think you should concern James with your well-being because if you are expecting then he should know,” she said.
I sat back and ran a hand through my hair. Pregnant, me? I mean it could be possible but the chances were one in a million. I felt happiness bubbling inside me. I unconsciously put my hand to my stomach. Could I? I turned to Lisa so fast I could give a vampire whiplash.
“We have to find out,” I all but shouted.
She looked surprised at my outburst but shot to her feet as my words sunk it.
