Jade was laying in her bed the night after her parents funeral. Her long black hair was loosely curled like they always were. Her skin was a slight ivory as it shined from the moonlight shining in through her window. She listened carefully to the quietness in the big manor that once didn't look so gloomy before her sixteenth birthday a month ago. She bites her bottom lip as the smell of iron filled her nose. She could faintly hear the muffled screams of her mother as she was crying while there were three male voices laughing. She sat up covered in a cold sweat and breathing heavily as she felt like she was going to vomit. She soon felt the soft cotton bed sheets under her and she sighed with relief. It was just her mind playing tricks on her it seemed, but to her it all felt so real. That night one month ago haunts her and she didn't know if she would ever get over that night. She wasn't really close to her parents, but she always knew there was a part of her that wished she was close with her parents.
Jade was the daughter of a successful man who owned a million dollar trading company. She didn't mind the pampering -even though she honestly did prefer the simple life- being she was blind. All she saw was darkness. No color or any images were able to be seen by her own grayish white eyes. Her parents made her life so easy that she didn't have to lift a finger and it was slowly starting to upset her four years ago. Over the four years she has been slowly regretting the pampered life her parents have given her. She always wanted to show she was more than just the handicapped girl she was made out to be. She honestly wished that the maids and butlers would've taught her things so she could show that she can be independent, but she wasn't given that chance. All because she was blind....
She got up from her bed grabbing a black walking stick that was left on the side of her bed -for when she needed to use the restroom at night- and made her way over to her closet. She grabbed a random shirt which happened to be a white long sleeve v-neck shirt off a hanger then walked over to her dresser. She opened the drawers and felt around. She grabbed black spandex shorts along with black thigh high socks. She got dressed then tied her long black hair -that stopped at her lower back- into a ponytail. She then slipped on her black ugg boots before walking over to her vanity. She sprayed her purple Halloween perfume, put deodorant on, and quietly starts to make her way outside to the back of the manor.
She counted each step in her head like she always did to remember how to get around her home and to know where each squeaky floor board was. Her walking stick quietly slides across the floor as all she could hear was the silence of the house. Every maid and butler was asleep in the manor as she walks through the house. Being very careful to not wake anyone. She kept herself calm and composed as she made her way down the halls to the stairs. She waited for her walking stick to drop a little as that would be her indicator that she was at the stairs. She took a deep breath and carefully slides her foot to the edge. With each step she repeated the process slowly and takes her time so she wouldn't be loud or fall down the stairs.
It took her about thirty minutes to make her way to the back door. Jade opened the door and walked out feeling the cold winter breeze along her face. The cold breeze didn't bug her as much being she was used to sneaking out on during the nights. She quietly shut the door behind her and took a deep breath. Her hand lets go of the door handle and she made her way into the night. She knew where she was going. She went to her secret spot every time her parents words or screams haunted her. Whenever she felt phantom pains she went to this spot. It was calming to her. It also made her feel like she had a choice. That no one could tell her what to do. In a sense that was the way she felt....free.
After walking six miles from the manor she could hear water running and the smell of fresh pine slowly filled her nose. She slowly let her walking stick slip from her grasp. The walking stick hit the ground with a soft thud and she took six slow steps towards the river standing at it's edge. Her parents words echoed in her head as she tears up. The dirty secret behind those closed doors and walls of the manor never got out. Ever. Her parents and her would paint smiles on their faces. No one dared to question or look into Jade's eyes to see that she was bent and broken. That she was beaten and battered. She didn't have the strength to fight anymore. Her parents didn't have a daughter. They had a puppet. Their words hurt her more than they could ever know. She closed her eyes and took a slow deep breath in. Slowly filling her lungs and letting her body accept the numb feeling she felt on the inside. Suddenly the smell of iron and death filled her nose as two large hands with long black nails rest on her shoulders.
"What a waste of a beautiful soul." A deep velvet voice spoke from behind her.
She slowly opened her eyes as one of the hands reach in front of her and gently wrap around her throat. Not choking her, but only holding her throat gently as if getting ready to strangle her. She didn't flinch. Not even when she first felt the hands on her shoulders. She knew from the smell of death and iron that the being wasn't human. She didn't need to see the being to know the male wasn't human. She exhales softly as her mind went quiet hearing the males voice.
"What are you?" She asked with a monotone voice.
The demon raised its eyebrow as its raven black wings close behind him. His golden red eyes -that resembled flames- didn't look away from her soul in the center of her chest. He smirks a devilish smirk as he walked around and stands in front of her. He was very tall compared to her five foot two height. He was standing at a strong six foot four causing him to look down at her. He had black horns that went up, but bent back slightly and ones that followed his jaw line. Then there were two demon horns on his forehead. Just by looking at him you can tell he wasn't only a demon. A long scaly tail was behind him as his sharp teeth showed from his devilish smirk. He only wore a pair of black jeans and thigh high boots with a black crop top shirt. His hands up to his elbows were covered in scales as he kept one hand on her throat while the other slides down to her chest. She stood there not scared or even flinched. He raised his eyebrow then moved his hand away from her chest and waved his hand in front of her face.
'She's blind.' He thought as his smirk widened more.
"Are you going to answer my question or no? I have other things to attend to." She said.
"Like suicide?" He asked her as she just stood there not saying a word.
He chuckles a little as he pulled his hand away. He never liked an easy meal, but then something inside him made his smirk falter and his hunger die. He looks at her realizing now she showed him no fear. Not even pleaded to let her live. His smirk then widens as he grabs her hand.
"I've been looking for a woman who would show me no fear. One that wouldn't beg me to let her live. Just never expect her to be so young." He said then throws her into the river.
She hits the water struggling to get to the surface. She never learned how to swim being her father said it was a higher chance she'd drown. Her lungs start to ache as water was filling her lungs. She was slowly drowning. Suddenly a pair of arms wrap around her.
'Call my name....' the males voice spoke in her head as she squirmed and struggled to get to the surface.
She didn't know his name. She was slowly losing time when suddenly her body slowly starts to go limp. Her heart beat starts to slow down. She thought this was it.
'Ambier....' Was the last name she thought before her vision goes black and her body goes limp.
