Falling in love with your best friend

Chapter 5

A couple of weeks later, It's Tula's 16th Birthday. She's at Rich's house and they're in bed cuddling. She's staying with him until she can find somewhere else to live. Her Mum still can't accept the fact she's with Rich and for the first time in her life, she's truly happy. Tula's supposed to be at school but she's taking the day off to celebrate her Birthday. Rich would take the day off with her but he has his GCSE exams. Rich places Tula at the side of him gently, he has a little stretch, rubs his eyes and gets up to go to the bathroom. A few minutes later, Tula wakes up.

Tula: Rich?

Rich: I'm here Babe. I was just in the bathroom.

Tula: OK. Are you coming back to bed for a bit?

Rich: *coming back into the bedroom* I can't babe, I have to go to school to do my exam.

Tula: *sighs* OK.

Rich: I'll be back at about 1pm.

Tula: OK fine.

Rich: If I could stay here with you, I would do. This exam aint gonna do itself. You'll find that out when you start doing yours through next year.

Tula: I hate being here. I feel like a right burden.

Rich: You're not. I want you here and my family love having you here. It's not your fault if your Mum can't accept the fact that we're together is it?

Tula: I suppose not. Are we staying off school today then yeah?

Rich: Yeah you can, but like I said, I have to do this exam. I leave in about 2 months anyway.

Tula: I know.

Rich: Right, I need to start getting ready. I'll see you later OK?

Tula: OK.

Rich: I can't believe I have to wear my uniform just to go and do an exam.

Tula: Are you serious?

Rich: Yeah, It's pathetic. 

Tula: That's stupid to be honest.

Rich: Tell me about it.

Rich gets ready, goes to school and does his exam. He has an hour and a half because it's an English reading and writing exam. It only takes him an hour to do so he sits for half an hour doing nothing. He pulls his phone out of his pocket and texts Tula.

To Tula:

Babe, I'm finished. Just sat in the hall doing fuck all. Will be back after and we can celebrate your Birthday properly. I love you! Xxx

To Rich:

Be careful you don't get caught texting! You aren't meant to do that in an exam! OK and see you when you're back and I love you too! Xxx

To Tula:

It'll be alright! Xxx

To Rich:

Yeah, but still be careful! Xxx

Just then one of the staff in the exam hall catches him with his phone out.

Exam person: Put that phone away or I'll disqualify you! If I catch you with it out again, I'll tear your paper up and you'll be disqualified from the exam!

Rich: Alright chill your beans man.

Exam person: Never mind "chill your beans man"

Rich: It's my girlfriend's Birthday. I was only saying Happy Birthday for God's sake!

An hour later, Rich is out of the exam hall and on his way back home. He gets to the park and sees Tula sat on a bench. She looked like she'd been crying.
