In this story, the covid pandemic happened before the school year starts. Yes,  different from the exact month or semester of what happened in reality.

I wake up because of that damn call.  I'm pissed so I don't want to answer that call.

*Kringggggggg*

Fuck!

Next time I will put my phone in silent mode.  I am so fucking sleepy. I covered my head with my pillow. I tighten my grip on both of my ears.

*Kringggggg*

It stops. Gladly or else I will kill that person.

After just a few minutes.

*Kringgggggg*

What the F?!

I moved my body to go near to my side table where I placed my phone. I answer the call annoyed.

[Hello!] -I said.

[It's mommy baby!] -Mommy shouted.

[I'm sorry mom. It's too early. I can't even open my eyes yet.] -I said. Tried not to sound pissed.

[Son, it's 10 in the morning! you should get up and eat your breakfast.] -She said.

I sighed. [Why you called?] -I asked. What's with the sudden call?

She inhaled, trying to calm herself down.  [Okay son.  Please listen.] -She stops. [I am currently here at Xincheng China and bad news came out earlier today. There is a harmful virus called the novel coronavirus and killed more than 23 people in just a day. Other cases were not announced by the media. I'm afraid if there's a case of coronavirus there.] -She explains. She is so worried.

[That's not that serious mom. Just stop overthinking  okay?] -I said. Maybe she's just being negative.

[No son! This is an extremely important thing to discuss and to be afraid of.  The government of China releases information regarding the virus and it's easy to spread with just talking to one another, by touching and interacting with a positive person.] -She continuously explains this to me.

[Okay then. What do you want us to react or what should we do?] -I seriously asked her.

[Take care!  Please lessen the interaction with other people especially in your new school. Many students traveled internationally during summer.] -She answered.

[Okay Mom. We will update each other to stop you from worrying too much.] -I said. [We're fine mom. You should take care of yourself and be extra careful because you're there in China.] -I insure and also remind her.

[I will. Please do update me. Mamita already knows about this. It's all over the news but she told me na you're not watching the news or even have read newspapers or even just glanced at it. so I decided to reach you now and discuss this.] -She said.  I'm not interested. It's boring.

The call lasted for almost 2 hours. I thought it will not end because mommy never stops talking and bringing up different topics. After that, I can't go back to sleep anymore and I decided to go downstairs to eat my breakfast.

"Iho, eat your late breakfast." -Mamita said when she saw me.

I faced her. "Opo," -I politely said. "Good morning." -bati ko.

"I am planning to wake you up again but I guess you're tired last night until midnight." -she said sounds so scary.

I look away and find words to say.
