Desert

Rain, I ask you this,

Where is it you have been?

One day you're here,

And the next you're gone again.

From the first time I heard you,

Your voice captured my soul.

I am but a parched Desert,

Your words make me whole.

Have you ever seen a wasteland,

Barren from dusk till dawn?

I await your next arrival,

For when angels shall spawn.

I tried singing myself,

It was hollow and tasteless.

But then came you're voice,

And there appeared an Oasis.

With a voice from the Heavens,

You touched my heart.

From the ground to the sky,

We're so far apart.

You're last song was breath-taking,

I wished you stayed to see.

From among the barren wasteland,

A meadow sprang from thee.

When your song slowed,

I'd hoped you'd kept singing.

Soon the bells stopped,

Yet my heart remained ringing.

Soon your voice fell silent,

Your song came to a close.

I dreaded a future without you,

A parched Desert's woes.

I am parched of thirst,

I await your next arrival.

I hope you won't be long,

I need you for survival.

Though I am barren,

My heart is a raging sea.

I hope we'll meet again.

Rain, a special friend to me.
