Chapter 22

"STOP AUSTIN!!" I screamed it in a serious way to the top of my lungs.

He got off of me and got up.

"Sorry you couldn't handle it." he said throwing his hands in the air.

"Whatever.." I said.

"Let's do something today." he said.

"Well, what?"

"The Birch!" He yelled with excitement.

"The Birch?! Are you crazy?" I asked.

"C'mon Lace! Be risky for once. I promise we won't get caught and you'll enjoy it."

The Birch is a place in the back roads of town. It's private property and there's rumors there's guys in black suits (also known as ' The Suits ') guarding the place and everyone always gets turned in for trespassing. No one knows why the owners are so protective though, the place has trash and old tires everywhere and not to mention the awful graffiti.

"What about the suits?" I asked.

"We will just say we're from out of town and didn't know."

"Fine but, if we get caught yo-"

"Yeah yeah I know..." He said.

He drove home and got his stuff.

I got on my bikini and cover-up, pulled my hair into a high pony, and put on my flip-flops and sun-tan lotion.

I waited outside on the steps then saw his Range Rover pull up.

He opened the door and I jumped in.

As we pulled up I made him get out and look for The Suits.

He opened my door.

"No sight." he said and grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the door.

We cautiously walked down to the stream and sat out our lawn chairs and relaxed.

"Hey look lace!" Austin said.

"What is it?"

"A message in a bottle."

"What does it say?" I asked.

' Meet me behind the water tower @ 5th Avenue @ 8:30pm I will be waiting behind the bushes. DONT BRING ANYONE.'

"Cool! Wanna go..." Austin asked shyly knowing I didn't.

"Austin! This sounds dangerous we're not going, not one of us."

"Okay.."

"HEY! KIDS!" Me and Austin shot around to see a suit standing behind us.

"Umm hi." I said quivering.

All I could think was ' I knew this was a bad idea'.

"What do you think you're doing here? This is private property."

"We're from out of town!" Austin said anxiously.

The suit just gave us a curious look like he didn't believe is.

"We are visiting our grandmother. We asked some kids where a good creek was and they told us here. Sorry, we'll just leave." Austin and I jumped up. I grabbed my bag and he grabbed the chairs.

We tried to walk away but, he pushed us back.

"Don't come back." he leaned over and whispered in Austin's ear.

We started walking and he slapped my butt.

"Hey watch it!" I screamed.

"Or what?" He said.

I stood there with a defeated look on my face.

Austin drew back and hit him as hard as possible. Blood started pouring from the guy's nose as he laid on the ground.

My jaw dropped and I put my hands over my mouth. Austin grabbed me and pulled me to the car.
