The city of New York was always lively, the crowded streets and busy traffic didn't bother the young college student known by few as Jordan as he walked to his part-time job. He decided to take a different route this time, for a change of pace, but he miscalculated how long it would take him to get to his destination.
Jordan pushed open the door to the small shop he worked in when he finally arrive, it was always seen as 'old school' because of the manual door, but Jordan didn't mind. He always liked things from those older years, it made him feel like he was living in that time where things were so much different than they were now.
"Ah Jordan there you are!" The kind shop owner exclaimed as he noticed Jordan enter the store.
The shop owner was in his late sixties, but his cheerful personality and young face made him seem younger. He had been the owner of the store since his thirties and had looked after Jordan ever since he was first employed. Jordan enjoyed the owner's company, and sometimes he felt like he was another parent to him.
"Hi, sorry I'm a bit late Mr. Morgan." He apologised
"Oh don't worry about it son, no harm done.""How was your partner's surgery?"
"It went really well, the doctor says they should recover really quickly. I was actually going to visit them now, you don't mind do you?"
"Not at all." Jordan replied, "Tell them I said 'hi'"
"I will!" Mr. Morgan grabbed his coat and hat from the back room of the store, "Alright, I'm off. I'll get you something to eat on my way back."
"Oh no Mr. Morgan you don't have to do that""Don't be ridiculous! You've been working hard for me and for school, you deserve a small reward. See you later Jordan!"
Jordan knew there would be no use arguing with him, so he just smiled and let Mr. Morgan happily leave the store to visit his partner after uttering a 'goodbye'.
As Jordan stepped into the back room to put his stuff down, he admired the screens on the walls that featured lists of songs they were selling that were made decades ago. Forgotten by the main public, but quite popular among the older community and a few younger people who like the songs for different reasons.Jordan's always been fascinated by technology from the 2000's and 2020's. In fact, he really liked history in general. It was interesting to see how much things changed from then compared to now.
"Jewel, play my 20's playlist please."
The small hub lit up in response and began softly playing a song on the speakers throughout the store. Jordan hummed along to the song as he pulled out his laptop and worked on his college homework.
The front door being opened tore Jordan's attention away from his work. He looked over at the entrance to see who had entered.
It was a young boy about the same age as Jordan, his blonde soft curls were mostly hidden under a green beanie. His emerald eyes lit up upon noticing Jordan in the store, greeting him with a happy smile and a wave. Jordan knew him as a regular customer named Levin. He would come into the store a few times a week, most of the time to just have a chat. Jordan didn't understand why he came in so often when he had no intention of purchasing any of the songs, movies or other products they sell.
"Hi Jordan!" He beamed.
"Hey Levin, are you actually going to buy something this time?""Haha, nah. You know I just like coming to talk to you." Levin stated in response, leaning over the counter "So how was your day today?"
"Pretty alright, it was just a normal day so nothing interesting really happened. How was yours?"
