Ushijima Wakatoshi

"Toshi-kun!" You squealed in delight as your eyes landed at the familiar tall and massive built of the captain of Shiratorizawa's volleyball team.

The moment your club ended you decided to make your way towards the gym where the team had their daily practice. You wanted to ask Ushijima, who happens to be your long time crush, about your plans on helping him with his academics.

He was having a bit of a hard time in two of your subjects and you wanted to lend some help. Good thing you were classmates and your grades for those two subjects have been excellent.

"Ooh~ who's that girl, Wakatoshi-kun?" A certain red head asked to the captain who's currently helping out in tidying the gym before the rest of the team head out. "A girlfriend? She called you Toshi-kun just now."

The red haired boy who you remembered was Tendou added with a cheeky grin, his brows moving up and down as he looked at you then back to Ushijima.

"No," Ushijima stated blunty which you heard as you entered inside the gym, "She's L/N-san, a classmate."

"Ehh? Really?"

"Yes," Wakatoshi replied.

You walked towards their direction just in time for them to finish cleaning up the gym. With a bright smile you greeted each member of the team and commended them for working their hardest for today. You were familiar with everyone since you have been supporting the team with all their games, may it be for qualifiers or the national.

"Good evening, Toshi-kun! Shall we head to the library now?" You asked as you followed him outside, not long after you found yourself standing in front of the volleyball's club room.

He turned his head towards you before speaking, "I will just get my things. Wait here."

"Okay," you nodded while watching him open the door of the club room then closing it again.

You stood there waiting and busied yourself in observing the view of your school. Shiratorizawa is really massive, you thought.

Well it is a boarding school after all and one of the most prestigious school in the district.

You were an only child of a filthy rich business tycoon, that's why your parents only wants what is best. From the clothes you wear, food you eat, and also for your education. Growing up was kinda lonely for you since your parents were always away for business and travel. The only people you have around you were either bodyguards or your house maids.

It was a struggle to gain friends who were true to you, without any hidden intention whatsoever.

You suddenly remembered that one time when you were alone eating at the cafeteria, a boy suddenly sat in front of you and it made you extremely happy.

"Wakatoshi looked intimidating that time..." You suddenly blurted out while reminiscing your first encounter with Wakatoshi at the cafeteria.

"Where are you headed, Wakatoshi-kun?" Tendou asked as he saw Ushijima heading towards the door of the club room right after getting his bag and other things. "You have a date with your girlfriend?"

Tendou smiled sheepishly as he teased the stoic captain, deep inside he was expecting some kind of change in his expression even though he know it wouldn't happen.

He imagined what Wakatoshi would look like all flustered and he immediately erased that thought, it just doesn't seem right.

"L/N will tutor me today. We have exams coming up." Ushijima just answered without looking back.

"Well then, have fun studying!"

The red head replied as he watch Ushijima's retreating back.

The moment Ushijima closed the door his eyes went towards the back of the girl who was waiting for him.

You were looking at the vast field in front of you, the huge school buildings formed a line and you marvelled at how tiny it looked from where you were standing. As your eyes glossed over and your thoughts were far away, you didn't notice a pair of eyes watching you in amusement.

Ushijima slowly walked towards you so you both could start walking to the library when he heard you mutter his name, and something about him being intimidating.

"L/N..."

Your train of thoughts were cut off when you suddenly heard Ushijima's low voice calling your name. It made you jump in shock, your face heating up. Worried that he heard what you just said.

"T-toshi kun, I didn't notice you there. Let's go?" You asked quickly trying to mask the embarrasment you were feeling as he watched you.

Ushijima nodded his head and you both silently made your way to the library. Shiratorizawa being a boarding school, students were allowed to use the library and other facilities until nine in the evening.

When you passed the cafeteria you wondered if it would be best to eat first before studying.

'Should I ask him for an early dinner?'

You were about to open your mouth and say something when Ushijima stopped in his tracks making you bump right on to his back.

"G-gomen," you said softly before touching your forehead.

Ushijima turned his head to look at you. He saw you lowering your hand from your face and he went silent for a second.

He was mesmerized by the view infront of him. Your hair moved against the wind, the sunset at your back made it look like you have a bright halo or aura around you.

For a second there he thought you looked really beautiful.

He didn't know what went through his mind but he just found himself about to reach out his hand towards your face.

However, when he saw your eyes growing wide and face getting red he immediately got a hold of himself and ended up grabbing your wrist instead.

"Should we eat first?"

"Huh?" You asked absentmindedly, your heart racing faster when you realized that this was the very first time he held you.

"Are you hungry? We should eat something before we study." He repeated, his hand never leaving your wrist.

"S-sure!" You replied hurriedly, your voice coming out a little higher.

'Oh, Kami! Is this for real?! He's still holding me!'

You practically screamed in your head as he guided you to the cafeteria. Maybe it slipped out of his mind that he was still holding you but you never  pointed it out.

A small smile formed on your lips as you looked at his hand on your wrist. His hands were larger and it easily covered your thin arm. It was warm and it gave you comfort. Comfort you longed to have, and just like that you felt the loneliness inside of you vanishing for a moment.

Your heart warmed and your stomach did a flip.

Even though you were alone for the past years, and it was a bit sad maybe you too could find the warmth you've always crave for.
