Blood soaked through the ripped clothing covering Jonah's shoulder as Leona held him tightly. She stared with wide, dull eyes, at the wound that now showed through. "J-Jonah..!" She whispered harshly, before looking around, noticing Zombies beginning to surround the area, sniffing the air as groans filled the girl's ears. Leona furrowed her eyebrows before standing up, trying to pull Jonah to his feet. He numbly placed his arm around her shoulder, leaning his weight on her for support. As Leona's senses heightened, Jonah's dulled. The girl quickly, but quietly, rushed the two of them into a nearby house, setting Jonah down in a room nearby. She silently closed the door, and locked it, placing a heavy chair under the nob as to provide an extra layer of protection.
Leona rushed to Jonah's side, falling to her knees as she frantically looked over him. "W-We dont know how long this takes to spread, or if it even spreads through bites.." Leona muttered, more to herself than her friend. She looked around the room for something to clean the wound when she felt Jonah's hand on hers. "D-Don't... Go..." He muttered weakly, looking as though he would fall asleep at any moment. His skin was pale as his eyes looked almost lifeless, the wound inflicted on him was yellow as pus pushed out of the already bleeding, rotting skin. Leona's eyes widened as she stared at it, 'There's no way! It couldn't infect that quick!' She thought as she looked at him. "J-Joe.. You have to stay awake for me, Joe..." She whispered as calmly as she could. He looked at her silently, before shaking his head. Gunshots echoed outside, as shouts and groans filled the silence. Leona closed her eyes and was about to cover her ears when hands did it for her. She slowly opened her eyes as she looked at Jonah who suddenly appeared lifeless, and had an almost apologetic smile on his pale lips.
Leona froze in her place as she watched him open his mouth, revealing rotting teeth and blood filling his mouth and dripping down his chin. She wanted to scream, cry, or beg for this to all be a nightmare but she knew, it felt too real to be a nightmare. Suddenly, she was jerked back and Jonah's once kind hands grasped for the place where she once was. "J-" She began when she saw his kind colored eyes were a lifeless white and the barrel of a Shotgun was placed against his temple. She reached out as tears stung at her eyes, her screams and pleading was cut off by the sound of the gun going off. Blood dripped down the wound and splattered the wall behind and some splayed on her Cheek for display. Her cries were silenced in that moment, as she felt bile raise in the back of her throat. She hunched over as Jonah's permanently dead body fell to the ground, all of a sudden.. Anger filled her as she stood and turned around to face the person she had now named a murderer, "We could have-" Darkness covered her vision as a sharp pain hit the back of her head and another pain as her body hit the hardwood floor. Last thing she heard was, "Poor girl.. She doesn't deserve this."
