CHAPTER-1 RE-WRITTEN

Hot,scorching blood was leaving my artery with violent jerks as the metallic smell filled the air,tears of blood trickeled down my cheek.My muscles contracted as I was staring into the coldest and darkest eyes I had ever seen,He stood with his wand at the ready while mine was no where to be seen.........

Sorry for not introducing myself. Hi! I'm Ava Goldien. Ever thought that magic could be true or wondered where the boundaries of science end?Did you ever think there is more than one universe?Well,it's all true and there are more than two universes. Unbelievable right!

Well it's getting confusing so lets start from the beginning. It all started the day I turned 15,that is on the 22 of July.That was the day the ordinary became extraordinary and the normal became a fantasy while my dreams were the reality.

That day on my way to school,I was walking alone because I slept in.It happens.But I wish I could've gotten up earlier.A small part of me atleast.I was rushing as I was running late but was attacked by a dog.It's understandable. Dogs get suspiscious when someone is running for no apparent reason, at least in their view.Another dog that had crystal blue eyes and was well built defended me.I had never seen it before, they were fighting paw to paw, like their life depended on it.It felt so familiar.Before I could get a clearer picture however I was lost in my train of thoughts and even without a conscience command I was in the school grounds.

I glanced at my watch to know that I was 10 minutes late.I reached class and sat beside Aiden,my best friend since I could speak, who also ditched me on my birthday - talk about friendship ay.But my mind was still drowning in a sea of questions like Why did the dog feel familiar?Was it normal to be attacked by a dog?Why today of all days? 

Much to the disappoint of my dead beat brain struggling to form logical answers for the unreasonable questions Aiden whispered,"Answer the question."loud enough so that I could hear it.

But before I could process the surroundings and analyse the amount of attention I was receiving at the moment, I blurted,"What?"as my mind started coming back to it's senses.

"Right answer Ava."My teacher Miss Rose replied assuming that I was actually paying attention in class.

"What is one of the most used words in the English language."She completed.

"Narrow escape."Aiden commented.Aiden was one of the people I cared the most about in this world, but that didn't make him control his sharp tongue.

"Atleast I'm not the one who talks in their sleep."I retorted.I lived with Aiden and his mom.Reason being I didn't have a family of my own blood.My parents died when I was a baby.Atleast that's what I was told.

"Now time for your results."Miss Rose announced as my heart beat sped up.I hated exams and the anxiety they bring with them.She went on announcing everyone's grades as she handed us our papers.

"Aiden,good job an A-,aim higher next time."

"Ava,well done an A+."

"How did you get more than me?"Aiden asked.Out of the two of us he was definitely the smarter one.I mean it.He created an app when we were eleven and also could find the 23rd root of any number in his head but I was better than him at languages.I read more books than him and hence had a better vocabulary.

"A little something called reading the text book."I grinned back proud of my lame comeback.After exiting the class my brain went back to the thought it was obsessed with,the event of that morning.

"Did you finish the french homework?"he asked a little louder frowning at me.

"Something bothering you?"he asked.Told you.He was the only person who could read me like an open book.
