"Mommy, I'm stuck! Please don't leave me!" A child's voice screamed.
"Don't worry, I'll be back with help soon." A tall woman spoke blandly as she turned away from the child.
"But Mommy, please don't leave! I'm scared." The child broke into tears.
Waiting for a response, the child held in her loud sobs but her mother had already left the child behind. The child's foot had been caught between two large trees that had fallen during a snow storm the night before. The snow around the young child's feet was splattered with red as blood dripped off the caught limb and onto the ground. Pain would shoot up the leg every time the child shifted, or even moved to try and push the log away. More tears spilled as the child kept trying to break her leg free, and every so often would call out for her mother. But as the wind began to pick up, the child's voice began to get hoarse and die down. Suddenly, a large beast leaped over the small child and landed a few meters behind her. Turning to face the child, the beast growled and snapped its jaws loudly. Terrified of the monster before her, the child screamed loudly as she pressed all her weight into the fallen tree. The beast then lunged for the child with it's mouth wide open as if to try and swallow her whole...
Shooting up into a sitting position, Styxx found herself breathing heavily as she glanced around her room. She had noticed that she was having these weird dreams more often and now they confused her tremendously. The little girl in her dreams was always the same, and the scenery was always snowy. She didn't really know what to think about these dreams, but she felt that she was connected with them somehow. Looking down at her hands, the young demon thought about her most recent dream and how it correlated with the last one she had. Perhaps these were all just memories that she had when she was alive, but then why did it seem like each dream ended with the child possibly dying? It didn't make any sense to her.
"How long are you going to sit there?" Makhai's voice suddenly echoed through the room.
"How long have you been there? How'd you get in?" The young demon squeaked as she pulled the covers up to her chest.
"I was here the whole time, igiaeq. Also, you didn't lock your door." The demon smirked mischievously.
"It's rude to just walk into a girl's room without permission. I'm getting up, so I'll meet you in the hallway in a minute." Styxx grumbled as she gestured to the door.
Makhai scoffed as he left the room, and closed the door roughly behind him. A frustrated sigh, escaped the young demon's lips as she slipped out of bed and got dressed for day. Once she was fully dressed, she grabbed her weapons and opened the door to her room to find the male gone. A groan rumbled in her throat, and she began to wander around the halls in search of her missing partner. After some time of mindlessly walking, she could hear the sound of flesh on flesh contact coming from the down the hall. Making her way there, she noticed a large crowd of demons were gathered by the door watching whatever was causing the commotion. Pushing her way through the crowd, she was met with cliche fight scene between two demons. Makhai stood tall with his hands all bloody, while the other demon was hunched over and coughing up blood. There was a sinister grin that had taken over Makhai's features that caused Styxx to shudder, and the other demon was visibly shaken by the older demon's crazy behavior.
"Did you see that?" One of the demons whispered.
"It's crazy that he is still conscious." Another one shivered.
"I feel bad for whoever he's partnered with." A male demon snickered as he watched on.
"I heard that he killed his last partner, so the new one is probably already dead." A shorter male demon cackled as he slapped a hand on the back of another demon.
