Reaper missions were slow, and Makhai's investigation had barely been producing results. Hades had called the two demons to a meeting multiple times, and was left disappointed as they never had any kind of result for him. Styxx had noticed the disapproving looks that the Master of The Underworld had been giving them, and that caused great worry for her. Of course, Makhai had told her not to think too much on that, but she just couldn't help the fact that something terrible could happen to them if they didn't succeed. It was late in the afternoon, and Styxx was wandering around the halls of the castle looking for Makhai. As she walked around, she happened to hear a snippet of a most intriguing conversation.
"The Moirae have really been helpful in getting this going." A deep male voice chuckled as flesh-on-flesh contact echoed through the room they were in.
"You're right, Ossa! I never knew that the Fates would be so easy to get that kind of information from. We just had to ask about which souls were destined to be collected by us, Reapers, and then we relay the message. It's so elementary that no one has been able to figure it out." Another male laughed loudly.
"Quiet, Dolus, someone might hear. We have the next grouping of human souls, so let's hurry up and get that to the messenger." Ossa sighed as he dragged the other demon out.
Once the two males were out of sight, a large sigh of relief escaped her lips. Of all the demons that could have gone rogue, it just had to be the two that she and Makhai liked the least. But, they finally made a breakthrough in the investigation, and now everything was falling into place. Realizing that they would lead her straight to the messenger of their missions, she followed behind at a distance to see if she could make out the last rogue demon. They left the castle the same way Makhai had on their first day of training, and they meandered through the city streets of Uzad before taking off in the direction of River Styx. The mountains in the distance were still a vibrant blue that stirred awe within the young she-demon, but she had to remember to be extra careful in the open. The dead plains had nothing for the young demon to hide behind, but luckily, she had decided to wear her cloak. The two demons ahead were moving at neck breaking speeds, as they had cleared the plains faster than Styxx had ever seen. Racing up the mountainside behind them, Styxx slowed down in order to hear them if they had stopped. Coming up to the top of the mountain, she looked around the opening at the peak, but found no one nearby. Dread began to spread from the pit of her stomach as she looked around frantically for the two demons. Finally, at the side of the Styx, she saw three figures conversing. Immediately recognizing the two males, she shook her anxiety away and stared intently at the third figure. The being that stood with them was cloaked from head to toe, with no way of truly identifying the figure. She realized that she couldn't hear their conversation, but she also couldn't risk herself getting caught either. Waiting another moment, she nodded to herself and turned on her heel to leave the scene. Just like the journey back from her training, it took less time arriving back at the castle compared to when she had left it. Darting inside, she made her way through the maze-like corridors and to her room.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Makhai's voice suddenly rang out from behind her.
"I was looking for you earlier! Where have you been?" The young she-demon questioned as she whirled around to face the older male.
"You ignored my question." He sighed as he walked past her.
"Oh, I made a discovery." Styxx grinned as she darted past him.
The male shook his head as he followed behind the young she-demon, and waited as she opened the door to her room. Upon entering the room, she immediately pulled out a chair from the desk and motioned for him to sit before plopping onto her bed.
"Well?" His voice twinged with annoyance as he watched the young demon.
"Ossa and Dolus." She stated venomously as she crossed her arms.
