Day 1-Welcome to the Villa

I woke up before my alarm, I was so excited but also nervous to be flying to Spain today. I couldn't believe that I had been chosen to be an Isalnder on Love Island 2020. Love wasn't easy for me, I never put myself out there or tried to find love. I always focussed on school and then my career. But everyone kept telling me that it was time to enjoy myself more and try and find someone I could spend my time with. I wasn't sure, but my friends and my mom talked me into applying for Love Island. I never thought, a quiet middle school art teacher, from Newport, would be accepted. What did I have to offer to a Villa full of hot successful people? But I guess the producers saw something in my Bio that made them think I'd be a good contender.

So here I was checking my luggage over again to make sure I packed everything I needed. My mom and sister were picking me up soon to drop me off at the airport. I was ready, this would be a good change for me. It was my chance to step away from my students and my colleagues and enjoy myself for an entire summer.

I heard a knock at the door, looked around my flat one more time and walked out the door to the car. On the way to the airport my mom kept telling me to not worry about the cameras and just try to have fun. My sister told me to hook up with as many guys as I could, Renee was a bit of a trouble maker and even though she was younger than me she'd had more boyfriends than I had.

My mom overheard Renee telling me this and glared at both of us. I laughed it off and said "Come on, that's not me...I doubt i'll be doing any bits in the Villa".

This seemed to make my mom smile but Renee just rolled her eyes and yawned like I bored her.
When we pulled up to the airport I got my bag out of the trunk and hugged my mom and Renee goodbye. They told me they'd be glued to the TV watching me and rooting for me.

Next thing I knew I was seated in First Class, I was given some champagne and a cheese and cracker tray. This was lush, I'd never been in First Class before. What a way to start my Summer of Love. When we landed I waited by the baggage claim for my driver. I was told someone would meet me there to pick me up and bring me to the Villa. I was starting to get nervous, I saw a man holding a small sign and stepped closer to read it, in big bold letters I saw my name...TEGAN TURNER.

This was it, no turning back now...I walked over to the man and said "Hello, I believe you are my ride. "
He replied, "Aw yes Ms. Turner I presume, let's get your luggage and follow me to the Jeep."
This was it, the infamous jeep that would drop me off at the Love Island Villa. I climbed in and could feel my hands getting sweaty, my heart pumping faster and faster, I was so nervous. When we pulled up the driver told me to go into the Villa and wait for the other girls to arrive.

I sat in the lounge and looked around taking it all in. After a few minutes another girl walked in. She was stunning, she had long blonde hair and her body was well, way more fit than mine. She bounced into the villa with so much energy and enthusiasm. I didn't think I would be able to keep up with her.

She practically ran over to me to greet me..."OMG, I can't believe we're here, this is so exciting, are you excited? I'm so excited, my name is AJ, what's yours?"

"I'm Tegan, nice to meet you, your body is amazing, you must work out like all the time."
She laughed, "oh ya I'm an athlete, I'm a Professional Hockey Player."

All I could say in return was "Wow, that's so cool." I'd never met a professional athlete before, I started to feel even more nervous, like wow, if this is my competition, do I even stand a chance? She clearly has a lot more to offer than me. But, AJ was really cool.

We talked for a little bit longer before the next girl arrived. She came in beaming from ear to ear, she had long brown hair and a great smile, she seemed so nice and friendly. She walked over to AJ and I and engulfed us both in a big hug, "Hi, I'm Elladine, it's so nice to meet y'all, i just know we are all going to get along, this is going to be the best summer of our lives." Elladine was like a breath of fresh air, she seemed so nice and genuine.
