Ed's POV:

Envy and I are now closer than ever.
A while ago, I would have easily killed him.
Well, maybe not. I don't necessarily like to kill.

Still, however, finding people like Envy really makes you think. He was only misunderstood. Created and forced into a life of immortality and relentless labor.

"Hey, Eddie. You good? You've been staring at the wall for quite a while..."

We've been together for 3 months now. I never would've expected it to have gone this far. Our relationship is perfect. Not that I have anything to compare it to, of course.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about you." I laugh.
"I see..."
Envy isn't great at communication, but he's trying. I used to have the same problem.

Last night, we were cuddling when Envy announced he wanted us to move in together.
I was quite surprised, but after some thinking, I realized that I actually would like to.

"What about work?" I had asked.
"Quit" He winks.
"I can't do that. It's my source of income, dumbass."

Nevertheless, he's been searching for an apartment. I can't tell if he's doing it illegally or not, considering I'm not being told any information. Knowing him, it's probably the latter.

-

Tonight, Envy has something special planned. I don't know what, but I'm at work. I can't focus on it too much.

Lieutenant Hawkeye encounters me on the outskirts of the building. We walk side by side.

"Hey, Fullmetal. How've you been? You been acting strange for the past little while."

"Oh, Hey Lieutenant. I'm fine, really." I pause. "Well actually, there is something. You see, I'm, er, in a relationship with someone. I'm just not sure how to keep it under control."

She looks at me and smiles. Maybe I'm oversharing.

"Wow, Ed. Did you finally ask Winry out? I get it. Relationships are tough."

"Well, actually... it's not Winry" I blush.

"Really? Well, who's the lucky lady?" She asks, still smiling.

"HAWKEYE. I'm just asking for relationship advice. I should have never-"

"No no, I'm sorry Ed. What do you need?"

"Okay. How do you make dates less repetitive? All we do is go for dinner with the occasional cuddle..."

"Well, Ed. That's not exactly an easy one. What do they like? I haven't been in a relationship for quite a while, but doing something interactive is always nice. Maybe going on nice walks, or biking."

It's not exactly helpful; Envy can be quite lazy. It's worth a try.

"Thanks, Hawkeye. Could you do me a favour and not tell anyone about my... relationship? I just don't think people need to know."

"Of course." She smiles.

-

Its 5pm, and Envy gave me a location to meet at.

"Hey, Envyyyy" I say, thoroughly drawing out the "y".

"Hey Eddie. So before you say anything, this apartment building contains some of the nicest rooms I've seen in a while. We're here to take a look around." He smiles.
So that's what he wanted to do here?

"Well, let's go in." I smile back.

I'll admit. The place is pretty nice, and I haven't even seen the room yet.

"Woah, where did you find this place?"

"There was an ad in the paper. I thought we might as well take a look around, considering our conversation two nights ago."

The room in question is almost on the top floor.
Wow. It's perfect. There's two bedrooms, two bathrooms with a large main room.
It's giant compared to where Al and I live currently.

"I'm still not sure how I feel about moving... but this is perfect."

He looks pleased, and sends me a flashy smile.
"I knew you'd like it. This place is awesome, dammit."

"True... how much is it?"

"In the price range. That's all you need to know."

We take a little longer to explore, but eventually it gets darker outside.

"Let's go hom-" I begin.

"No. I have something else planned..."

I begin to question, but am quickly refused.
We silently walk down a twisty sidewalk hand in hand until we reach a small lake.

We step down onto the dock together, eye contact maintained. He stops.

"Edward Elric, I'm so glad I found you. I hate sentimental human shit, but this time it's true. With you, I feel comfortable to be myself. Not the fucked up asshole Father wants me to be."

I'm actually stunned by the fact Envy has this much to reflect on.

"Envy, I don't think you could've summed it up any better." I joke.

Envy laughs for a bit, and we share a kiss.

What only lasts a few minutes feels like forever. It all hits me at once; falling in love with a homunculus and eventually wanting to live together. Winry being totally out of the picture.

The only thing that fills me with incompletion is our progress toward getting our bodies back.

Envy knocks me out of my thoughts.
"Hey, Ed. Want to see my full form? I don't think you've seen it yet." He smirks.

"Okay... I hope it's interesting." I laugh.
I sit on the dock facing him. At that moment, he shifts into a fish, jumping in the water.

After a few minutes, I begin to get worried. Where is he?

My worries wash away when a giant dragon-snake-alligator-looking thing rises above the water surface.
It's truly terrifying, but I can't look away.

"Holy shit!" I yell up at him. "This is fucking CRAZY."

As if in response, he extends his head toward the dock.

"It's frightening, I know." He says. "And you wonder why I hide behind that pretty face?"

I giggle.
"Envy, you look sexy like this. No lies."

He bursts out laughing.
"Of course I do."

He shifts back to his regular form and laughs even harder, grabbing his sides. I laugh terribly hard as well.

After around 10 minutes, we walk home, unknowingly following Hawkeye's suggestions.
Holding hands once again.
