"So why are you here?" Balloon was actually pretty nice, considering he hasn't tried to kill be yet, but you can never be too sure.
"I don't really know," I sigh, "Something just called to me, I had to follow it."
"I may not understand exactly why you are in the middle if the forest by yourself, but I won't judge, considering am too." Balloon shook his head. I'm relieved he decided not to ask why.
"So why are you out here?" I was curious, he seems very lonely, but he obviously had friends, or at least acquaintances at some point.
"Long story," he sighed, obviously bothered, "but I can tell you the gist of it."
I nodded, curious to know exactly why he is out here.
"I was on a show called Inanimate insanity a few years ago. I put on a mean act, you know, to try and have a better shot at winning." So he was also a contestant in an object show, that's pretty surprising. I thought bfdi was the only one, maybe I was wrong.
"Anyway, it didn't work, as I was voted out by my own team. I should've seen it coming though, I was quite a jerk" Balloon actually reminds me of a mixture of Flower, Pin, and GB, which is quite funny, actually.
"After the show was over, and a guy named OJ won the prize, he decided to build a hotel so everyone can enjoy it." I didn't like where this was going, but I kept listening anyway.
"He let everyone in, except me! He even let Knife in, who was more of a jerk than I was! It isn't fair!" Balloon cried, throwing his arms in the air.
I winced, perhaps we aren't so different after all. We were both locked out by people we thought were our friends.
Pity rose in my chest as I watched him cry and rant about how he was sorry and that it was just an act, that he didn't mean to hurt anyone.
I lean forward and wrap my arms around him. He froze for a second before returning the hug.
"I understand, you try so hard to do something, and one simple mistake ruins everything." I sigh.
He was shaking as he hugged me back. It was quite nice, I guess it had been so long since I have talked, or even interacted with anyone that I forgot what it was like to hug someone. And he was obviously the same.
"I-I dont understand! T-they pretend like I don't e-xist!" Balloon hiccuped, tears streaming down his face. His grip getting tighter around my sides, obviously hurting himself considering I'm still metal.
"I can admit that hurting and using your teammates was a bad thing to do, but everyone deserves a second chance, and you are not a bad person for wanting to redeem yourself." I pull away from the hug, holding his shoulders.
"R-really? You m-mean it?" He asked, wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Of course I do! You're not evil for making a mistake, you're just flawed. And trust me, everyone has flaws, even if they say they don't!" I smile at him. It has been a while since I have done this.
"Thank you, it has been a while since I have talked to anyone." Balloon smiled at me, wiping the rest of the tears from his eyes.
I sigh, standing up and offering my hand to him. He accepted and I helped him stand up.
I looked up at the sky and was surprised to see that most if the day had already passed by.
"We've been out here for a while, haven't we?" Balloon asked, small hiccups still erupting from his throat.
"I guess we have." I sigh. It was at least midday, the sun in the dead middle of the sky.
I immediately regretted looking straight at the sun, as my eyes almost instantly started burning, black spots appearing in my vision.
"Why did you do that?" Balloon gave me an incredulous look, lifting an eyebrow at me.
"What would you know, Balloon boy?" I mutter back, my vision clearing again.
"How dare you? I thought we were friends!" He gasped playfully, putting his hand on his chest.
Huh, hands. Pin always had a weird love for them. It was quite creepy.
There was a snap of a twig behind us and we both looked to see the peice of paper I bumped into yesterday.
"Am i... interrupting something?" All three of us were silent for a few moments, before Balloon stepped forward.
"What do you want, Paper?" Balloon asked. He seemed to be on the verge of tears again.
"I... I should go..." paper seemed quite uncomfortable, slowly backing away into the bushes.
That was... very awkward...
Balloon and I didn't speak, the tension hanging thick in the air. So thick you could probably cut it with a knife.
"This is awkward," I decided to break the silence, "do you two know each other?"
"We did, he got third place in Inanimate insanity. He is one of the people hates being around me." He mumbled, looking at the ground.
We stand in silence for a bit longer before a low rumble is heard. We both look up to see dark clouds covering the sky.
"Looks like it's about to rain." Balloon says.
"It looks like it's going to do more than just rain," I mumble, "we may want to find shelter."
Balloon nods in agreement before we both start walking in a random direction. Hopefully we will find something to shield us from the rain.
"I think I remember a cave being located somewhere around here." Balloon leads the way through the woods, but we don't seem to be getting anywhere.
"Are you sure you know where you are going?" I tilt my head. It would be funny if he didn't and we were just moving in a random direction. Actually no, that wouldn't be very funny, Leafy.
"... not really..." Balloon sighs, his shoulders slouching.
"That's fine, we'll find shelter eventually!" I try to cheer him up, but it doesn't seem to be working, he's obviously upset again.
I sigh, putting my hand in his shoulder, "I promise we'll be just fine!"
He seems to believe me as he let a smile grow on his face, "whatever you say."
It wasn't until there was a bright flash of light and a loud crack. Which led to orange, red and yellow flames that were slowly making their way right for Balloon and I, did I find that we were not going to be just fine.

Yay another chapter, I don't really know how to feel about this one.
They're in danger lol.
This chapter is much more dialogue heavy than the other two, but whatever.
Also hurt and comfort is amazing, and it would be a crime not to include it.
