A Sad Day In January - Part 1

It was raining

Usual thing in January right?

Soo draining

I was tired and missed you

Nothing new for somebody in love

My phone ringed

Something so unusual

In that glossy display

Your name

Usual when away

I answered

The voice in the other side,

It wasn't yours

My throat dried

My eyes opened wide

I knew

I knew before knowing

And I felt it before feeling something at all

As reality slowly crept in

I was overflowing

It was all breaking down

And I knew you weren't around

Your mom crying in the background

As your sister tried to speak

I didn't listen

I was dying

Why?

Why couldn't I help you?

How I didn't notice before?

The signs

That you had vines

Intertwined in you

I never knew

That they would claim you

I wasn't there

It wasn't fair

That you had to be alone

I felt nothing more than despair

Pure disconnection

All I could do was stare

All you needed was protection

And I couldn't give you that

I was trapped in a nightmare

The days passed

Rapid blurs of light

I didn't know if I should fight

or flight

And I was supposed to be there

Close to you

Next to you sister and mother

But how could I sit on that chair

See the hate in the eyes of your brother

I couldn't face it

I didn't go

I was afraid to show

I was afraid to see you like that

I rather remember you as you were

See you glow

An happy girl that loved her best friend, a deeper love

I preferred the lying in pursuit to continue loving you

Missing you
