What...
Where am I...?
What happened?
why can't I see anything?
oh...
I remember I was trying to save a little girl from getting hit by that truck...but I got hit instead...
I hope that little girl is ok....
wait... AM I DEAD!!!

{Flashback ——————————————————
It's night time, and everyone was going home to their family's. All except one...
Me... I'm James, I'm 46 and still don't have a girlfriend. I have average looks, average job, everything about me is normal. Well, I do have a cat but that's about all. I have done nothing important in my life, that's one of the things I regret.

The street lights are Beautiful right now, it's like a thousand fireflies. I live in New York, yes, The big apple. It's a good life compared to some other peoples lives. Everyone is all out trying to go home so its kinda hard to walk on the sidewalk without getting bumped into another person.

While I was walking through the herd of people bumping into someone on occasion. I would say a subtle sorry and keep walking. I was suddenly startled when I heard the cry of someone in the distance. "EMILY GET OUT OF THE ROAD!"

What? My eyes darted around but I finally looked up to see a little girl about 6 or 7 about to get run over by a snicker doodles truck! She obviously didn't see the truck coming since she was to busy trying to get her scarf, which had drifted into the road. My wide, fearful eyes looked around at all the startled faces waiting for someone to try and help her. They never move one step but rather just stood still and watched.

What! Why is NO ONE trying to help! My eyes turned back to the little girl. I couldn't let her die... not on my watch. I clenched my teeth and took off running.
"I HAVE TO SAVE HER!"
That was all that was flashing repeatedly through my mind!

I pushed and shoved people out of the way, until I was was right across the road from her. The truck was to close so I jumped...and as I jumped in between the little girl and the truck. I could see the head lights of the truck coming right at us but before it hit us.

I reached the little girl and I wrapped my arms around her as the truck came crashing into us... I could hear a sickening crack within my chest and I could tell it pierced something vital. As the little girl and I tumbled to the ground I hit my head onto the hard concrete causing gasp of air to leave my body. We traveled a few feet until we finally stoped sliding.

I could feel the cool liquid fall down my face with a metallic scent to it. I spit up the blood in my mouth, as I grimaced at the pain flowing through my body. A painful chuckle escaped my bleeding mouth. it quickly turned into a groaned of pain as my entire body was pulsing and throbbing. As my fuzzy head looked around. I could see blurry figures lined up along the road with their phones up... taking photos.

It made me realize... that this world is uncaring... I averted my eyes to the little girl next to me. I couldn't help but smile at the little girl, she had a couple bruises and bumps, but I knew she would be okay.

"OH, SWEET HEART!"

I heard the voice of a female come closer as sobs escaped from the woman's mouth. Once the lady reached my sight I could see a tender hearted woman with brown wavy hair and nice chocolate eyes full of tears. she leaned down and scoped the child up in her arms. She looked over at me in shock but I could see she was grateful. She frowned with tears streaming down her face.
"Thank you.."
As I looked at her I smiled.
"take c-care of her.."
