Everything stood still in the silence of the ruined world. Well everything besides the Fractured, their distant ghastly groans and snarls filtered into the silent petrol station as two girls huddled in the corner, one pale and sickly, the other trying to keep the sick girl alive.

"Everything will be ok Emiko, just hang in there a little longer. I'm sure Ashtie will be back any minute now." The girl said, trying to be optimistic. She only got a few loud coughs in reply. "But to make sure that we stay alive until then, I'm going to have to ask you to die a little quieter."

Emiko didn't take that comment in kind and tried to smack the girl, promptly failing because of her weakened state. "Shut up Nova." Emiko said between coughs.

Quickly checking over her shoulder for fear of a Fractured sneaking up on them because of the noise a certain sick child was making. Seeing nothing out of place, Nova stood to go look out the window for extra precautions.

In this messed up world, you can never be too careful.

Propping the blinds up with her pointer finger to take a quick peek outside, Nova noted that It was quiet. Too quiet. Letting the blinds fall back into place, Nova then started to collect their stuff and pack it away, 'Something's wrong and Ashtie isn't back yet.' Thought Nova. Sighing, she thought about what she had to do if their friend didn't return on time.
Then she heard it. The sound of a door opening. She may have been lost in thought, but after surviving this long, you learn to keep your ears open.

Dropping down to the floor, Nova hastily made her way to Emiko's side, shifting to block her from anyone or anything's view. Clutching her Beretta 92 and keeping her metal bat close, Nova fixed her stance to allow more mobility. If it were a Fractured, she'd opt for the metal bat as to not make much noise to attract more, the gun was just there to make her feel more secured.

You can never be too careful.

She heard the Fractured shuffle around a bit more, then she heard the door open again. 'Oh gods, of course there had to be two of them.' Nova grumbled inwardly at her luck and reached to grip the metal bat tightly. That is, until she heard the Fractured make a noise.
The Fractured make groaning and snarling noises, ones that make it sound like its choking on its own deathly existence, as if the Gods can somehow stop their suffering.

Well, if the Gods had any control over this is the first place, then why would they help us now, especially since there's really nothing left of the world that's worth saving.

The sounds that these Fractured made wasn't their signature gurgling for food. No, it sounded more......human. Nova cursed under her breath and decided to let the survivors move along. If they don't bother us, we won't bother them.

Turning to Emiko, she whispered quietly under her breath, "Ok you really need to stay quiet now. They'll leave eventually, just hang in there."

Emiko gave a slight nod, telling Nova that she understood.

Both Emiko and Nova kept silent as the two survivors made quick of their work in the station, gathering all the supplies that the girls hadn't taken for themselves. It was only when Nova could hear the survivor's quiet conversation that she started to panic a bit.

"I'm telling you; it's going to be fine man. We just need to get in, get out and drive away to safety, honestly, I don't know why you're so worried." Whispered the survivor, who Nova has now come to the conclusion that it's a guy due to his deep vocals.

"Because we weren't supposed to be out this long. If Dabi leaves our asses behind, it's on you and that means I won't hesitate to leave you behind." Grumbled back the other survivor in response.
