Chapter 7 - I'll find you

Previously...

The room went silent, and nobody left.


Great. All 407 examinees...

...the Hunter Exams may begin!

The leader of the first and second phase introduced himself as Satotz. He started walking and we followed. Every minute or so, he picked up the pase.

"Please follow me to the second phase." He declared. A echo of "Huh?" went around the room. The second phase? I didn't even think we started the first one. 

"We have already started the first phase. Here you will be tested for your endurance." He exclaimed, starting to run.

"Good thing we're fast." I smirked at Yua. "Hey, Gon. Can you run alright?" I turned to him.
"Oh, I'll be fine. I'm a pro at this!" He clenched his fist and smiled. We smiled back. This was going to be easy-peasy.

After a good 4 hours of sprinting, we finally reached the end. Many people had already dropped out for not being fit enough. Luckily, me, Yua, Gon, Kurapika and Leorio succeeded and passed.

That was a few days ago. We have been on a large island for a few days now. The aim was to collect others badges whilst trying not to get yours taken in the process. Piece of cake! I already collected 3 badges in the first day, including my targets. I had pretty much a week to just chill. 

The forest was quite peaceful and you didn't exactly bump into anyone very often. Poor Gon, he had to steal the badge of some creepy clown dude. From what I'd heard, his name was Hisoka and he was highly skilled. Yua's was Tonpa, so that will be pretty easy for her. I'm guessing she's already got it. I don't know who Kurapika and Leorio's are, as I don't talk to them that much.

I was quite bored, so I decided to climb some trees and see if I could spot anyone I knew. I grabbed hold of one of the branches and heaved myself up. Wait....that's Yua! She looks like she's holding a few badges, so she's all set. I jumped down and hurried her way.

"Yua!" I called out, my voice echoing. "Y/N!!??" I heard from the distance. I could hear her footsteps coming closer and closer. 

"Yua, hey!" I waved. 
"Hey girlie! You got all the badges too?" She smiled.
"Sure did! Piece of cake. Hey, we should try find Gon!" I suggested.
"Great idea. Let's go check if he's at the finish."
"Finish? What finish?" I'm confused. I could've sworn we had more days!
"You didn't hear? There was an announcement a few minutes ago. It ends today!" She shrugged.
"Oh...right! Well, yeah. Let's go!"



Timeskip: Heavens Arena (Sorry It would've just been boring)


We all passed! We walked out of the Exam area holding our Hunters License proudly.
We said our goodbyes to Kurapika and Leorio, who were going to go study in York New City.

Suddenly, Gon tapped me and Yua on the shoulder. "Guys?" He asks. We just turn around and listen to him.
"So.. there is this place that I have always wanted to go to. It's called Heavens Arena! Killua used to always talk about it and say how cool it was. He said you can make money buy winning fights! The higher floor you are on, the better money. What do you say? We could practise our fighting skills, too!" He squealed. 

Me and Yua giggled. "Sure, Gon. It sounds like fun!"

We arrived at Heavens Arena, and wow. It was amazing. We stepped inside and got our names signed up. Gon and Yua's fights were on first, and then mine. 

We went and sat in the audience, waiting for our names to be called.

"Gon Freeccs, Muta Alebro!"
"Yua Katsuna, Zushi!"

Yua and Gon got called. Thank goodness they weren't fighting eachover. They were just in different pitches. I waved them good luck and waited for my name to be called.

After around 10 minutes, the matches were finally over. Yua and Gon both won, which meant they were moving up! The lady said they could go to floor 40, which is extremely impressive, seen as it was our first time here.

"Y/N L/N, Illumi Zoldyck!"

What?
Did I hear that right? 
Illumi...?

I saw Yua and Gon about to go upstairs, but Gon stopped in his tracks when he heard Illumi's name. He quickly turned around and looked at me, concerned. Yua was confused. I guess Killua only told me and Gon about his family.

"What do I do?" I mouthed to Gon. I could feel my heart beat getting faster and faster and I was starting to break out in a sweat. He was about to mouth something back, but the lady interrupted us and ushered Gon to go upstairs.

"Y/N L/N? Are you present?" The tannoy announced. 

I slowly walked down onto the pitch. Illumi was just stood there, emotionlessly.

"3...
2...
1...
Fight!" The crowd yelled.

Shit. What do I do in a situation like this? Illumi is far too strong for me. Killua was amazingly strong and still couldn't beat him. 

He slowly started walking towards me and I started to panic. I tried moving backwards but it was like my feet were glued to the floor. My eyes widened with fear.

He was them stood directly in front of me. My head started to ache. Was he...trying to communicate with me? Suddenly I heard a voice.

"You're nothing without Killua."

What?

"Killua left you...he doesn't need you. Assassins don't need f̶̡̒͒̈́̇̽͐̈́͒̚r̸̗̯̣̎͐̎į̷̧̢̖̲͍͖͔̩́̏̀͗̕͜e̴̛͓͙̙̜̮̙̳̫̗̩͗͑̈́̀̋̚n̶̎̾̀͛̅ͅͅd̶̥̘̻͙̱̱̹͛ṣ̷̮͈̪̰͚̥̗͉̿̀͆̊͒͛͌̂͑͠."

No...he wouldn't..

"Give up."
"Leave."
"Go back home."

I'm...not leaving. KILLUA NEEDS ME!

"Give up."

N-no... I can't...

"Give up."

Killua...

"I WON'T GIVE UP ON HIM!" I scream out-loud. The entire stadium went quiet. Everyone was staring at me. 

I feel dizzy.
Why is everything spinning?

I need to....
...go find Killua...


I collapse to the floor. My vision blurs.  I can make out 2 people running up to me, yelling. I couldn't tell what they were saying. 

"Killua..." I whisper. Tears start streaming from my eyes.

"I'll find you."





Then, everything went black.
