Jonnys POV
I call up Mabel around 12:am knowing that she'd be up by this time. Guessing right she picked up the call. "Hello."her voice came through and for once today I relaxed completely. "Babe I've missed you, hope you're hanging in there. I know how stressful high school is." She hanged up. I needed her now but I know I couldn't have been able to even tell her over the phone. I stared around the empty house I once shared with my mum as tears wiled up in my eyes for the hundredth time today or more I wasn't even sure. It's been an two hours since the doctor announced her death but it felt like a few minutes. Before she died she gave me a letter to hand it over to Mabel and gave me her finale kiss. I went up to her room and sat on her bed. I looked at the ceiling absent-mindly like she does with she was thinking about something important. I hated myself right now. I shouldn't have gone outside the country to purchase my education or I could have convinced her to come with me.

It was just me and her but because of my ignorance it was just me now. I cried more and I didn't see when the morning sun rose. I took a black shirt and dark glasses to cover my swollen eyes. I took my car keys and drove to the hospital.

I arrived at the hospital and filled out the details they needed to finally give my mother's body to me.
I made my way to the cafeteria to get coffee then I bumped into Miss Flora,Mabel's mum and grandma. "Hey son are you okay?what are you doing here?" Miss Flora asked worried and I felt good that she cared. I hugged her and she pulled me to sit down at one of the seats nearby.
I told them everything and Miss Flora and grandma couldn't control their tears. They helped me issue a date for the the body to be released and took me to the bakery shop with them. They said they wouldn't tell Mabel cause of how close she was with my mum. She considered her as a second mum and they said it will be right for me to tell her in person. I didn't say no and went with them to the bakery.

A few minutes later we arrived and I followed them inside with my shades still on. I smiled at Mabel and walked to the corner of the shop which was so unusual of me and I know she noticed it. Her grandma whispered something into her ears and she nodded. She walked towards me with coffee I in her hands but when I saw her approaching fear erupted me. I didn't hear her come close and when I looked up I could help but pull her onto my laps and hugged her.

"She's gone." I said. She looked at me with an expression; I don't understand. " Mum she's gone." I repeated and she gasped with tears rolling down from her eyes. "She left this for you." I handed her mum's letter and she took it with her hands trembling. She hugged me again and I didn't know how long we stayed there.

Mabel's POV
We stayed there for almost an hour when I decided to go home and dress into another dress so I can help him prepare for the wake and burial. I pulled into our garage and asked him to come inside the house all this time he hadn't taken off his shades yet and I didn't know if he was still crying or not. I went straight into my room and starts packing som dresses n a few personal belongings. I pulled a short black dress and put it on.
