Five Years Later...

3rd Person POV:

Chief Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III sits at his dinner table, surrounded by papers, books and a few broken pencils.

Across from him sits his fifteen-year-old daughter, Zephyr, heir to the tribe. Her dark auburn hair is pulled back into a long braid snaking down her back. With a huff, she blows her bangs away from her blue eyes as she concentrates on the papers in front of her.

"So if the trade prices raise higher than this," Zephyr points to set of numbers scrawled on a paper, "Our selling prices would have to go up by..."

Suddenly the hut's door bursts open, "Hiccup!"

Both generations of Haddocks turn to the newcomer, "What is it Gobber?" Hiccup asks as his daughter returns to the work spread on the table.

"There's a girl on the beach- dark hair, bright blue eyes, never seen her before. All she said before she passed out was 'Zephyr'."

The auburn-haired teen looks up again at the sound of her name.

"And that's not all."

"Gobber..." Hiccup sighs impatiently at his old friend's melodrama.

"She was riding a dragon."

A loud gasp causes the men to turn around, "Laila!" Zeph springs up and rushes out the door.

Sharing a confused look with Gobber, Hiccup runs after his daughter, "Zeph what is going on?"

Without stopping her sprint though the village she answers with her own question, "Five years ago, when we went to visit Toothless and the other dragons?"

"Not an answer but I remember."

"While we were there, I met a girl, Laila. We hit off and she gave me some useful advice. I asked her if she wanted to come back with us- she was all alone- but she said that the Hidden World was her home."

"And you told your mother and I nothing about this because...?"

"She asked me not to," the teenager says in an oh-so teenager-y, matter-of-fact voice.

"Of course," he sighs, shaking his head slightly as he speeds up to keep up with his daughter.

As they near the bottom of the cliffs, Valka comes into view, kneeling next to a girl with long, black hair and a black-and-white dragon.

With a wordless exclamation, Zephyr skids to a stop on the sand, kneeling beside her grandmother. After a brief hesitation, she carefully takes the girl's hand.

"Zeph?" the injured girl asks, her eyes hazy from pain.

It's a surprise she's even conscious. Her right arm is clearly broken- the white bone showing is a testament to that. What look like arrow wounds on her arms and legs have been hastily banged with now-bloodstained strips of the same fabric that peaks from under her armour. Armour that resembles the armour worn by Zephyr's family during their fight against Grimmel.

The rust of dried blood coats almost her entire body and the formerly pale sand under Laila is stained a sickening red.

"Yeah, it's me, I'm here," Zephyr gently brushes a stray hair off of her old friend's bloodied face. The future chieftess looks ready to throw up at the state of the older girl.

"Dart," Laila coughs weakly and thin trickle of blood slides from her lips,  "H-help her first. She took a bunch of arrows protecting us."

"We'll help both of you," Valka says reassuringly, putting a hand on her granddaughter's shoulder, "Can you tell us what happened?"

"It's the Hidden World," Laila rasps. Right before she slips back into unconsciousness she coughs out, "It's been attacked."

A/N: HA HA CLIFFHANGER!!!!!! MWA HA HA!!! I AM EVIL!!!

What happened?!! Who could attack the Hidden World?! No one knows!

well I know but you all have to wait.

Is it wrong that I really liked describing Laila's injuries? I think it might be, but... it was really fun.

Aw Well,

Holly
