"Who's George?" -asked Mason.
"This is George" -said Bill while pointing at George.
"I found him running through the woods out of his mind" -he added.
Mason checked out George from head to toe and then asked.
"Why was he running?"
"By his story, he was running away from group of people who attacked the group he was with"
"Attacked??" -asked Mason.
"Yeah, apparently a group of men attacked them and he ran away" -said Bill.
"Just attacked them, just like that?" -confusedly asked Mason.
"Look, I don't know what exactly happened but he was shaking when we found him" -said Bill.
"Do you think he told you the whole truth?" -asked Mason.
"What do you mean Mason?" -confusedly asked Bill.
"I wanna know if you trust him. A guy running away from group of men coming to kill him, sounds fimilar doesn't it?" -said Mason.
"No, it doesn't really" -responded Bill after giving it a quick thought.
"Gregory... Gregory was in similar situation. Remember him? A guy who raped a woman before he got killed by same people who later killed Carl and tried to kill me" -said Mason.
"You think George could be same like Gregory?" -asked Bill.
"Maybe. It's not every day that group of people try to kill you, is it now? There has to be a reason" -said Mason.
"I know that, I asked him about it but he didn't say much" -said Bill.
"What did he say?" -asked Mason.
"Why don't I let George tell you about it himself" -said Bill.
"Yes, sir, I... I didn't know those men. I was in group with six other people when they attacked on horses and with spears... I got scared... I just turned back and ran when I saw what was happening... Oh Lord, they killed them!" -explained George sounding very stressed and frightened.
Mason thought about his words for a moment and then asked.
"How is it that everyone went down and you are the only one who escaped?"
George started stuttering while explaining what happened.
"Sir... I don't know if I am the only one. Sun was already setting. My friends sat down to rest while I went ahead to collect some timber to start a fire... Lord... That's when I heard the screams. I looked up and saw group of men on horses attacking my friends with spears in their hands. I'm not sure they saw me at all, I just turned around and ran. We didn't do anything to anyone to deserve this! We were unarmed, we were just trying to survive and find our way home... Oh Lord... What is happening to us... "
"Hey... calm down George, you are safe here" -said Mason.
"Thank you sir..." -responded George.
"Did you ever meet them before George?" -asked Bill.
"No, I told you, I have no idea who those people were!" -he responded.
"Maybe some of your friends knew" -stated Mason.
"No, sir, there's just no way, we were all together from the start. We have never met those people before... they just came out of nowhere!" -explained George.
Mason and Bill looked at each other unsure what to think.
"Maybe... some of my friends managed to escape as well... I just ran and didn't look back, I saw one of them brutally stabbing my friend in the chest with the spear and I just knew I had to ran..." -said George.
Mason thought for a moment and then asked.
"Does a name Gregory mean anything to you?"
George thought and then replied.
"No, sir, never heard of Gregory"
"Alright" -responded Mason nodding his head.
"Why do you ask, sir?" -asked George.
Mason's eyes rolled in the distance, taking a deep breath he said.
"You see... Gregory, very much like you, was once attacked by group of people... and his group was destroyed, but there were survivors... We found Gregory and took him with us, shortly after, we came across few more people. It turned out Gregory wasn't a very good man. He crossed some other group who in return attacked them. I want to be sure you didn't do something similar like him, cause last time, lots of innocent people got killed... I don't want to see that again George"
"I swear to God I have no idea who they are!" -said George who already started panicking.
"Hey calm down" -said Brandon.
"Please trust me, sir" -said George.
Mason thought for few more moments and then looked at the George again and said.
"We will help you go back there and look for your friends, and if it turns out you lied to us... It won't end well for you"
"Sir, that group attacked us for no reason, those are murderers!" -shouted George.
"We will see about that" -responded Mason.
"Mason... Is this the best idea? -asked Bill.
"What do you mean?" -asked Mason.
"You know how dangerous it is out there, and we have lots of our own troubles to worry about, here at the camp" -said Bill.
"We need to verify his story, and if his friends survived they might need help. Then, they can help us at the camp too" -said Mason looking at George.
"Yes, absolutely, sir" -responded George.
"It's gonna take us like two days, we have nothing to lose" -said Mason.
"Except our lives" -said Bill.
Mason smirked.
