I pace the room waiting for news about Tris' trial. The trial was last night, but Mom wanted to think this through. Why am I worrying? She is not affected by the truth serum. Mom promised that the trials are the only time she is going to use serums. I hope she is telling the truth. Tobias walks in.

"Tris and Christina are free," he says. Thank god. I know my friends are safe. Peter has already been cleared. So that should cover everyone. Well, except for Caleb. But he deserves to stay in prison. After what he did. He betrayed everyone that trusted him. I smile at the fact that Tris will be fine. Ignore the thought of Caleb. I check the time. Noon. I go down to the main place to eat. Tris and Christina sits with me.

"Are you okay?" I check with them.

"Yeah," Tris promises. A loud bang goes off. A crowd forms. I push through the crowd and see Ed is starting to destroy the Choosing Ceremony bowls. Tobias tries to stop him, but that results in him almost getting hit with a hammer. I run over to Ed.

"Stop," I shout. Ed prepares to swing, but I grab his wrist. He tries to pull out of my grip.

"Stop," I repeat with a little more force. Ed succeeds to push me down. Three gunshots goes off. One hits a woman behind me in the leg, another hits a man in the shoulder, and the third hits Ed in the chest. He drops the hammer and falls. I catch him.

"Get a doctor," I shout. "Hurry."

I push on the wound to try to prevent bleeding. Ed's blood starts to cover my hands. I can't stop the bleeding. They finally take him to the infermory. I get up and go wash his blood of my hands. At least I try to. It seems to stick to my skin. A pair of hands grabs mine and help scrub off the blood. I look to see it's Peter.

"Thanks," I say. He nods and hands me a paper towel. I use it to dry my hands off and throw it away. This can't be happening. I thought things would get better, but it seems to have gotten worse. I'm losing people I care about slowly and there seems to be more riots.

"Hey," Peter says. "Are you okay?"

I nod my head. He then pulls me closer and kisses me. He pulls away.

"Sorry. I don't know..." I cut him off.

"It's okay," I state. "I'm just...shocked."

"I just..." Peter starts rubbing his neck.

"Maybe this should be our secret," I offer.

"Yeah," he concurs. We nod and go our seperate ways.

                                                                        *****

Ed died in the infermory a few minutes after he arrived there. That was a week ago. Mom has been upset about the incident. Tobias has been quite lately. And Peter and I haven't spoken to each other for a while.

I walk into my room. It is dark out. I just fling myself onto the bed. I close my eyes. I'm too tired to change my clothes. A hand is placed to cover my mouth. I open my eyes to see Peter. He motions to be quite. I nod my head. He removes his hand from over my mouth.

"Your brother is getting us out of here," he whispers. "We're going outside the wall and I was curious if you wanted come."

I hop out of bed and grab my gun.

"I'm in," I state.

"That's the Victoria I know."
