Today was the day of the doctor's appointment. Layla was now two months along, and she was glowing in Parker's eyes, just like she did the first time she was pregnant. They had told Logan that he was going to be a big brother, but neither Layla nor Parker believed that he really understood what it meant when they talked about mommy having another baby. That morning, Layla was getting Logan dressed when Parker came into the room.

"Sweetheart let me get him dressed and you go finish getting ready." Parker said as he knelt beside the two on the floor.

"But I'm almost done." Layla insisted as she slipped the sweater over his head. "I just have to put on his socks and shoes and brush his hair."

"Let me do it, baby." Parker said again as he moved his hand to get the tiny socks for Logan.

"Parker." Layla said sternly. "I can do it. Just go put his stuff in the car or something."

"Fine." Parker mumbled as he walked away.

"I can do it just fine, can't I, Logan?" Layla said as she was slipping a sock onto his foot while Logan was laying on his back smiling at her. She smiled back and tickled his side, causing him to giggle and squirm. "Mommy take care of that baby."

Later on after they had left the house and dropped Logan off at Parker's parent's house, Parker drove quickly to the doctor's office. There was no doubt they would be a little late, though.

"This is why I tried to let you let me help get Logan dressed." Parker stated as he drove. "We're going to be late."

"What does it matter? Maybe we won't have to wait." Layla said as she scrolled through social media on her phone.

"I just don't understand why you acted like you were ill at me because I offered to help."

Layla sighed. "I didn't. I'm pregnant. I have hormones and mood swings."

"That's going to be your excuse all the time isn't it?"

Layla shrugged. "I don't know. Guess we'll find out."

Parker sighed deeply as he turned into the doctors office parking lot. "Can you at least act like you're happy?"

"I am happy." Layla said as she picked up her purse before looking at him and smiling for a moment. "Come on let's go see our baby."

Parker mumbled to himself about how bipolar Layla was as he walked over to her side of the truck to open the door for her. They both walked into the office, and it was only a few minutes before they were called back for the ultrasound. Parker sat down in the chair beside Layla and held her hand as they waited after the preliminary questions and assessments were done and the woman had left the room for a few minutes.

"Did you see what I weigh now?" Layla asked. "I'm gaining more weight than I had with Logan by this time."

"That's a good thing, Lays. Means you're eating and keeping you both healthy." Parker replied.

"I suppose you're right, baby."

Parker smiled before kissing the back of Layla's hand. "You're doing great."

Layla smiled, blushing. A few seconds later the ultrasound tech came in to perform the ultrasound. She asked Layla some basic questions as she rubbed the jelly on her belly, then the ultrasound began. It was the first time Layla had seen the baby on the ultrasound since she hadn't been fully awake and aware when they did one at the hospital before. Get excitement was evident as she grasped Parker's hand and the grin on her face grew as she started to see the baby on the monitor. Parker smiled proudly as he saw the fuzzy blob that was the baby and heard the heartbeat.

"Okay, so you're ten weeks." The tech said as she moved the wand over Layla's belly to get different views of the baby. "It's hard to tell if you have one baby or two right now."

"Two?!" Parker and Layla exclaimed simultaneously.

The tech chuckled. "Yes, there's a possibility of two. I'm actually getting what could be a second heartbeat, although it could just be yours that the monitor is picking up. But two heartbeats are there, although I can't seem to find the other baby right now; might be hiding behind its brother or sister where we can't see it."

Layla glanced over at Parker, who was now grinning as big as she had ever seen him grin as his eyes were glued to the monitor looking for what he thought might be the other baby. She could tell that he would be ecstatic over having two babies and not just one. However, she didn't quite know what to feel after the shock of possibly having twins. After all, she already had one baby at home. How would she possibly make sure she had time and energy to take care of two newborns and one that is soon to be a toddler?

After the ultrasound was over, Layla smiled at the ultrasound picture as she walked out of the doctors office with Parker holding her hand. She was so happy that her baby was doing well and everything was going just fine, the doctor had said; she had seen no signs of any complications right now.

When they had both got in the truck and were driving away, Layla commented on the fact that she needed to get a baby book for the new baby.

"Might have to get two." Parker smiled as he squeezed her hand. "Isn't it great that we might have two?"

Layla chuckled slightly as she held her belly with one hand. "Yeah."

Parker scrunched his eyebrows at her for a moment and asked, "Why do you act like you're not happy about it?"

"I am, baby." Layla assured him. "I guess I'm just tired."

"I don't see why anybody wouldn't be happy about it. I mean they'll have a friend right there all the time, Logan will have two friends to play with now, and we can be together all the time taking care of two babies, one for me and one for you." Parker smiled.

Layla couldn't help but smile and agree with her husband's excitement. However, a few seconds later she sobered again and began to look out the passenger window.

"Do you feel alright, Lays?" Parker asked her.

"I'm just tired. And I think the nausea is coming on." Layla commented.

"I'm sorry baby." Parker said. "You wanna go home and take a nap before we pick up Logan?"

"No..." Layla's voice trailed off before she said again, "no, we'll just go get Logan and go home. Maybe watch a movie or something for a little while."

"As you wish, babe." Parker replied. In the back of his mind, he knew that something was wrong with his wife; he just didn't know if she really felt bad or if it was something else. However, he didn't press it. He knew that sooner or later she'd spill her guts to him if there was something bothering her. Right now, it was just his job to give his pregnant wife whatever she wanted.
