"Give me a single reason. Just one." Fable tries to argue before Dawn places her hand onto his face.
"That's not- well alright." Zen almost argues before stepping down, shaking their head.
Dawn and Fable have been together for as long as I can remember. They have the type of love you only see in Hallmark movies. Zen has admitted that they don't feel attracted to anyone so they just stay to themselves. Yet I'm still the only one of us that hasn't been in a relationship.
"I have to go, I have tutoring." I place my bag onto my shoulder causing Zen to roll their eyes.
"No, you have to go tutor." They push their hair out of their eyes, looking up at me.
"Yeah, that's what I said." I nod and they shake their head causing me to sigh, speaking again. "I have to go, I'll talk to y'all later."
I blow a kiss and say good bye before turning around, making my way out of the cafeteria. I walk down the hall way, listening to the soft chatter around me. I can never make out what anyone is saying but after four years I finally decided I don't need to know.
I push open the door to the library and pick up the pen, signing in.
"Good after-noon." Delilah, the librarian, smiles as she looks up from her computer. "What can I help you with today, doll?"
"Is there anyone I need to tutor today?" I look around and notice a guy sitting with his feet on the table. It's crazy how disrespectful people can be despite their age.
"That boy right there, I believe he's having trouble focusing." She flips through a folder, looking for something before pulling out a paper and handing it to me. "Here's his schedule."
I take it and inhale deeply, exhaling a thank you before approaching him.
"Hi, my name is Alora." I smile, setting my bag on the table and scrunching my nose in disgust at his dirty shoes. "I was told you need help with focusing?"
"You're new here." His accent catches me off guard, since it's not one you would usually hear around here. He scans my appearance and I shake my head, laughing softly.
"No, I've been here since my parents- since I was younger." I respond, informing him that I am in fact, not new here.
"I must not have noticed you before, who do you hang out with?" He asks, pulling his feet off of the table and I ignore his question.
"How about this; for every question on your homework that you answer correctly, I'll let you ask me a question." I set the paper with his schedule on the table.
"How do I know you aren't going to flake out on your end of the deal?" He raises an eyebrow and I smirk, crossing my legs.
"Do I look like the type of person that won't hold up my end of the deal?"

"Hey bubba, I'm going out tonight but there are leftovers in the fridge." My mom pokes her head into my room, knocking lightly on my door before giving me the bad news.
"I thought we were having a movie marathon tonight?" I spin my chair around so I'm facing her and she sighs, leaning against the door frame.
"We were, but I have a date tonight." Her smile grows and I feel a warmth in my chest, one that I haven't felt in a while. "This one might actually be serious."
Although she says that about every guy, I always believe her. It's not that she lies to me, because our bond prohibits that, it's just that it hurts to see her get her hopes up.
