I swipe open my phone and click into instagram.

"WELL WHAT DID HE SAY ???" Fae squealed as she looked over my shoulder.

"I haven't opened the DM yet" I hissed back as the nerves built up in my body.

Hey strawberry girl, I was thinking about it and I kinda need a tour guide. The city is just too big for me and my friends to navigate and find all the cool places ourselves... soooo I was wondering if you'd be up to showing us around? You could bring your sister too? Let me know :-)

"OH my god. You. have. to. go. no- WE have to go—" Fae stated.

"Fae you have school tomorrow"

She groaned.

"Maybe mum will let me go anyway?" She says, the hope progressively draining from her face.

"Don't you have that big science test tomorrow?" I trailed off as I kept rereading the message over and over in my head.

She sighed and flopped down next to me burying her face in my pillow.

"So unfair" The pillow muffled her voice "I hate school"

She said angrily kicking up my blankets with her feet.

"It's not fair" She lifted her head "You get to have a gap year and do NOTHING. Im leaving." She huffed, picking herself up off my bed and sulkily stomping out of the room.

Evidently she had made her way downstairs to try and convince our mother to let her go. This was made clearly known from the parade of NO's that drifted up the staircase.

Well. That counts Fae out.

I scan the message a final time before heading to iMessage to talk to my best friend Leonora or Leo about the situation and hand, and hopefully convince her to come with me.
