-UNEDITED-

Tranclucent water droplets splashed down onto the earth as the sun shone down on us - the mud sloshing as we carefully walked across it. A beautiful rainbow formed into the cloudless sky.

It had stopped raining a bit that morning but it had started up again 5 minutes into practice. We had a game tomorrow and we can't even train? We might lose this one. We've made it to the quarterfinals so far and I think everyone wants to get to nationals, the third years mostly. Even though it was almost summer, that didn't stop it from raining. It wasnt a cold rain, though. It was a warm rain: The type of rain you get when you are on holiday in the Caribbean. It was July, so it was expected since its the rainy season but it kind of sucks I can't catch shoyos pitches today.

The shoyos didn't bother heading to their dorms to change, they immediately headed to the inside gym. Sugawara asked me to catch for him and I agreed since I had nothing better to do.

"Suga, your sliders are a bit shaky!" I throw the ball back at him. "Alright.." His soft voice whispered out. "Give me a low slider." He kneel down and he nods. Every other pitch seemed to be fine except from his sliders. Sugas main pitch was a breaking ball and close second was a curve ball. Sliders are something he learnt recently but got the hang of pretty quick so I wasn't sure why his throws were off.

The next pitch he took, I analysed his body language. As a catcher, you gotta remember these things. You have to be observant and know what's wrong. When suga pitches, he doesn't balance on his right leg for long. Almost as soon as his left leg reaches his chest, he snaps back out. His left foot lands wide so he doesn't have to twist his hips as much. Even though he lands in a diagonal stance, his chest faces forwards, allowing his throw to stay straight and hit the target.

He was doing everything as normal, except narrowing his stance the slightest of distances. Any slight change can cause your throws to come off targets. Once he's finished the pitch, which was off target again, I walked up to him.

"Your landing your stance more narrow than usual, why's that?" I ask as I throw the ball up and down. "You noticed? Well, asahi had mentioned that if I narrowed my stance a bit more for the slider, its a little bit hard to hit." He explained, voice gentle as always. "Hmm.." I hummed, thinking, dropping the ball in the process. "I think you should stick go the stance your most comfortable, maybe work on narrowing your stance for nationals - cause you know, we are going - and use it then?" I look at him. "Sure."

As I suspect, when he returned to his original stance, his pitches were on point.

I did some batting practice with the third years after that, to was pretty intense but also fun. Coach came in at one point and pitched to me. I hadn't caught his pitch in a while so it was a shock when it came hard and fast.

Overall, it was an okay training session inside and now I really want to play tomorrow. We have to win..
