"You can never hate strongly

,unless you love strongly"

"Hey princess, is that yo... what wrong with your friend?! Does she have any medical condition?"

My dad was looking very concerned. But what I felt was relief. Good, he'll know what to do.

"No, none"

That was from Edith, I feel very hopeful that she might be hiding a heart somewhere in the deep crevices of her dark being, but I just can't bring myself to probe into her. I can't risk getting affected. As it is, with tentative grasp, I felt around her, sensing concern, it was real, not feign.

"Well then, the floor's clean so lay her down, we can't risk moving her and" dad carried a duvet "raise her legs. She'll come around in no time."

I expected Edith to say something, but it seemed she acquiesced. We waited for Thruja to come around. And finally she showed movement.

"Faith? Are you alright?"

I slowly came into my senses again, the first thing that came to mind was, HELL! Did I faint? Kill me now, no way is Meredith going to let me live it down.

"Faith, are you alright?"

Wait was that Meredith, is that concern I hear from her royal nastiness?

I opened my eyes, bracing myself to face Meredith's malicious glee. But I was shocked to realize that instead of standing away from me with a malevolent grin, she sat beside me on the floor. Wait, Meredith sat on the floor? I'm hallucinating, yes that's the only explanation for me to see her sitting on the floor. I stared at Meredith, truly convinced that I'm hallucinating because she was looking at me with tenderness. I said

"How I wish you didn't hate me Mer, then we would be like this, truly sisters. You know, the woman in the portraits, your Aunt Amy? Our father loves her."

And I slipped to blissful unconsciousness.

Meredith was shocked, to say the least, not just the part about her Aunt Amy, but also the part about her hating Faith. Yes, she does seem so but only because Faith hated her, hated her for shattering the illusion of a happy family, her intentions were selfish, yes, she wanted another person to love her, another Roark. She felt pain and knew she had to get away before she breaks down.

"I, I have to go."

She didn't wait for anyone to reply. She never heard Roark call out to her, she ran, she ran faster than she had 10 years earlier. After a seeing her mother, with a man a woman, she was five years old, but she knew what she saw was not right. After all, mother never entertain guests naked.
