"Nothing is more painful for a child, than that of a parents lack of attention."

Meredith found herself standing in Central Park West. She felt calmer and decided to call her driver to pick her up, then it hit her, she left her bag back in Ika's place. For the first time after 10 years, she was unsure what to do next. She didn't know how long she stood there. She felt all her insecurities come crashing down on her.

Well, no one shall miss me. I'm no one special. I think if I go missing everyone will celebrate. She thought feeling sorry for herself. But another voice, a voice of reason told her...Roark would miss you, and yes, you are nobody special, but you're not hearing impaired. You heard what Faith said. She did, and she is so confused with her conflicting emotions as of the moment. If Faith harbored the same secret longing for them to be sisters, then all those years of hurting and degrading each other, all those days of pain, was a result of her stupid pride. You never said sorry, you know what you did. A voice in her head told her, and couldn't help but look back 10 years ago.

Her grandparents are dead, well, good riddance. No love lost there. Even at a young age she knew that her grandmother hates her. Her grandfather ignores her like she doesn't exist. Her father doesn't know how to communicate with her as she only speaks french and he doesn't. He's almost always away because of work. And her mother, her mother is cold, and harsh, unforgiving for any tiny mishaps. Her only happiness is her little brother, Roark. But he's a boy and is not into her hobbies, like ballet. Even with an almost identical disposition to her mother, she had a child's innocent heart, albeit sadly chilled. She longs for a friend, she yearns to make friends with their neighbor's daughter, Chandra Sapphire, but she laughed at her when she introduced herself. That made her think in her child's mind, that only a sibling could love her, after all, only her brother does. So, she kept everyone at arm's length, with a snobbish attitude. Afraid that if she tried to make friends, she'd be laughed at again. So she longed for a sister.

She chuckled at that thought, remembering that sweet longing for a sister. And another memory flashed.

It was a usual day, after her grandparents death, once in a while she noticed that the staff are all given a day off, the same day off. The only person left would be Corazon, she's Roark's nanny(Their nanny but she thinks she's too old for one). This is always when her father is away. Her mother would be entertaining guests in her bedroom.

She was given strict instructions to never bother her mother. And she used to do exactly as her mother tells her. But that day Corazon slipped in the kitchen floor, she knew who to call but she couldn't get the operator to understand her.

"Aidez-moi, mon nounou glissa! " (Help, my nanny slipped!)

And she realized that she didn't know their address, she hated herself for not knowing. Roark was crying and she saw blood was pooling around Corazon's head. She decided to go to her mother's bedchamber. She was raised to never raise her voice but even with her cold heart, Corazon had been good to her, she cared a little for the kind lady. And she was terrified of the memory of the sight of blood, she was shouting on the top of her lungs.

"Mère! nounou glissa! Sa tête saigne! Mère! Mère! Mèr?!!?" (Mother, nanny slipped! She's bleeding! Mother, Mother! Mot?!!?)

When she opened the door to her mother's bedchambers, her fear was replaced with shock. Her mother is under covers, in obvious state of undress, and so are her companions. Her mother was looking at her coldly.
