For an October morning, it was a lovely autumn day. The sunrise erupted through the sky like an egg breaking, colour exploding through the sky like fireworks, turning the sky brilliant shades of orange, red, yellow, and blue. Usually one would be staring at the view in awe, but for Celine, all she felt was dread.

She wasn't exactly looking forward to having breakfast with Natasha. After all, the two had rarely ever talked before the coffee-spilling incident, and Celine barely knew her. She worried they'd have nothing to talk about, and that conversation would grow stale, wither, and die, leaving them in an awkward silence--one of her worst fears. What would we even talk about? she wondered as, standing in the bathroom, she rolled mascara onto her eyelashes. School? Home life? Books? She doubted it--Natasha hardly seemed the type to be a reader. But then again, she didn't know the girl well, so anything could be true.

As she brushed on some blush, she asked herself what she was doing, buying breakfast for Natasha Kim. But then she remembered that she warranted this by spilling a cup of coffee, and she had to suffer the consequences.

Oh, it's not that bad, a voice in her head said to her. She seems like a genuinely nice person.

"Yeah, I guess," Celine said aloud, brushing out her shoulder-length hair. "Maybe it'll be okay after all. Aaaaaand I'm talking to myself. Great job, Celine--but hey, if I really am crazy, tell me something I don't know."

She sighed.

Thankfully, she got to school right on time. It was exactly seven thirty when she walked into the cafeteria, and Celine smiled to herself—punctuality was something that pleased her. When she spotted Natasha sitting at a table by herself, playing with a lock of her hair, she quickly strode over and gave an awkward little wave.

"Oh, hey Celine," Natasha greeted her. She smiled warmly at her. "What's up?"

"Um, nothing much," Celine answered, sliding into the chair. "You?"

"Just waiting for you to show up," the brunette answered brightly. "Nice outfit, by the way."

"Thanks. You too."

Natasha was wearing a loose black spaghetti-strap tank top and ripped black jeans, layered with an army green bomber jacket. Her feet were clad with black lace-up combat boots, and her lips were bruised with dark red lipstick. Large gold hoops hung in her ears, and her hair cascaded down her back in loose chocolatey waves.

"You gonna buy me that coffee, Celine?" Nat inquired with a playful twinkle in her eyes.

The blonde nodded. "Are we driving to Starbucks?"
