Bakugou's POV
I walk into an abandoned building, not going to lie, it's kinda creepy and I wasn't sure if it was a trap or not.
It's getting dark and I know I'm a little late.
I was held after class, Aizawa "needed" to talk to be about what happened this morning.
I just told him that Y/n and I were talking, I didn't hurt him.
It was the truth but he didn't believe me.
It also took me a while to actually find the place where he wanted to meet up. If it were me, I'd just pick an alleyway near the boba cafe or something. But I'll admit, this is safer. Finally, I find him and the boy is leaning against a wall, passed out. I go over to him, thinking he got jumped or something, a small pop of fire rising from my hand.
He jumps awake with a little gasp. He looked fine.
Did he just fall asleep?
I was irritated.
How could he even take a nap in this dump?
I flick his forehead and he just looks up at me, tiredly.
I take a few steps back to give him space as he stands up. He starts taking off his shirt and ranting about his quirk.
I can't help but notice a large ropey scar crossing his torso, giving texture to his abs. Honestly, he's kinda hot.He keeps talking and I can't do much other than listen.
Was he always this talkative?
He tells me where his weak spot is and I start to think he's an idiot. No, he came to UA through recommendations letters. He can't be that dumb.
I land a few hits, but not where I need to. It's getting frustrating. I try to deceive him with a punch and switch to a kick. But he catches me and pushes me back.Eventually I get frustrated and end up taking his advice, and finally he lets me land the winning blow. It's enough force to knock him back, maybe even bruise his shoulder pretty good.
Yeah, I won, but I feel unfulfilled.
He just smiled.
I wanted to ask him questions, but he just stood up and brushed the dirt off him. He's about to walk away but I grab his arm without thinking.
He turns to look at me.I think he knows what I want to ask, because he sighs and shrugs.
"Go on, ask."
I ask all the questions at once, why he gave me advice, why he didn't want to be a hero, and why the hell he came to UA.
He just listens and nods silently until I finish. Then he takes a deep breath.
"I want to help you- and everyone in UA to be the best version of themselves. That be physical or mental, philosophical or any other," he pauses and shrugs, "and you stood out to me. Mostly because you're super loud and it's kinda hard to miss."
I nod, "okay, then why come to UA? You could have helped in other, more effective ways."
He goes quiet.
"You don't know my past, so you? I mean it's pretty common knowledge.."
I shrug, "I don't pay attention to that stuff."
He tilts his head, "you should. It could help. Some people have sensitive topics and it can be their weakness... not that using someone's trauma against them is okay."He kinda chuckles and it's weirdly nice to see something other than stoic bitch face from him.
"That didn't answer the question."
He sighs.
"My sister wanted to go to UA. She never got the chance to. I wasn't planning on coming here, but then Denki got accepted and he's like a brother to me, so.." he shrugs, "here I am. I gotta protect him.."He isn't looking at me anymore, kinda off to the side.
"That's not all." I say and immediately regret it.He clears his throat and looks a little nervous.
"I don't want to talk about it." He says, his voice failing him at the end.(Y/n's POV)
I feel a few tears drip down my face and I quickly wipe them away. Why in the fuck? Damn I'm pathetic.
I feel a warm hand on my shoulder and look to see Bakugou. He doesn't look mad or irritated, he just pulls me into his arms and whispered, "come here, crybaby."
Sure, the nickname was uncalled for, but I felt safe. I don't know why or how, but I don't care. I haven't felt this safe since my sister died.
"Don't tell anyone I did this, you'll regret it if you do."
I chuckle and wipe my face, nodding.
"I don't know why I started crying, I'm sorry. Don't tell anyone?"
He shrugs, "I wasn't planning on it. Taking advantage of someone's emotions isn't very.. hero like."I hesitate and pick up my bag, then start to leave the abandoned building but I pause and turn to him.
"Bakugou?"
He looks at me, listening.
I smile, "thank you. I had fun.""It'd be fun to kick your ass again, next time fair and square!" He laughs a little and I agree.
I start walking home, smiling to myself and decide to get Denki and I boba on the way.
I call him, his order changing every time."Hello? Oh Y/n!! Heyyy how'd it gooo? You coming home soon?"
"Yeah, I'm on my way right now, I was gonna pick up some boba for us. What do you want?"
"Ummmmm my usual! Anyway! Did you kick his ass?!"
"Nah, he knocked me around pretty good. He was a good opponent."
"What? No way, you HAD to have let him!"
"...yeah. I did. But he was worth my time, 10/10 would fight again."
"Oooooh the only times you fight someone more than once is if you like them, or because you have to!"
"Mm maybe I like him maybe I don't. Now what the fuck do you want? Your 'usual' always changes!"
