"Cat is sus." That was a weird murmur I heard. I opened my eyes to see some people surrounding me. Their spacesuits were all grey in colour. The surroundings were nothing but a glowing white.
"Let's vote her out."
"Agreed."
They grabbed me by the arms and dragged me towards...a vent. Tossing me down the vent, I feel down...
And down...
And down...
I screamed and my surroundings transformed into the white walls of the medbay. I wasn't falling at all. It was just a dream, but that still felt too real.
"Cat, ya ok?" Dhee peeked into the medbay. Over the week, Dhee has gotten accustomed to me. She still did think that I was "an interesting human" though.
"Just a nightmare of Mira HQ...." I got up from the bed and put a purple spacesuit on me, throwing the original black one away. I felt kind of sad but it was a necessary step.
"Cat, your scream just now was way more blood curdling than anyone's I have killed so far."
"We should revise what we should do again." I smiled. Dhee was getting more friendly towards me. That was good.
The plan was simple. I take the purple suit and Dhee takes the Brown suit. We brought along all the accessories to tape on our suit if necessary.
We then sneak into Mira HQ by jumping into the vents after alighting the escape pod. Dhee kills purple and brown and we take their place. We then kill the rest of the crewmates and make our way to Polus after.
However there was one problem, and that may have been an error on my part. I forgot to destroy the communicator and had left it on. Daniel knew what had happened and had already informed the bases on Mira HQ and Polus of this. They knew we were coming.
"Don't be nervous. They won't know when we will arrive." Dhee declared confidently.
Dhee stood there for a while. The reactor sabotage went off. Ah, it was time to go. Grabbing our box of accessories from storage, we both ran to the navigation room, where we evacuated through the escape pod. To be honest, nobody knew there was one. Dhee only found out that there was one when she was scurrying through the vents at the navigation room.
However, there was a problem. Only one person could fit inside. We didn't think this would happen.
"Don't worry, I can solve this." Dhee opened a vent and hopped in, sitting in there, while beckoning me to come in, "Come on in. There's space for the two of us now." She was really a genius.
As the escape pod got further away from the Skeld, I looked out of the window panel and saw the Skeld explode. I didn't hear anything, since we were in space, but I certainly understood now what Daniel said back then, "If the reactor sabotage goes unfixed, you're dead." That was so underexaggerated.
Mira HQ was an underrated planet. I don't get why everyone fantasizes on Polus anymore. I mean, look. Mira HQ only had a single building, so it wasn't hard to find. The clouds surrounding didn't even look real. The building itself looked really futuristic. Too bad it was gonna suffer the same fate as the Skeld.
We parked our escape pod under a vent and climbed onto it. The vents looked way longer than the ones in the Skeld. I'm lucky Dhee and I finally found the admin room and each grabbed a copy of the vent system for each of us.
We spotted purple having a small plant on their head and brown having a pair of goggles on him. Dhee and I quickly put our respective accessories on. Dhee jumped out of the vent at the office, where purple was diverting the power alone.
Purple turned pale upon seeing Dhee, "you're here..." Before they could scream, Dhee enlarged her hand and smacked purple to the ground. Purple desperately tried to crawl away, putting a hand in front of her, but Dhee pulled out a gun with her other hand and shot purple in the head. That was new. I never knew she could shape-shift, but then again, it would explain how she could vent quickly without getting stuck in there every five seconds.
Dhee dragged purple into the vent and looked at me. It was my time to impersonate purple and get out of the vent. It was certainly a pain. I didn't have shape-shifting abilities. With Dhee's help, I finally got out of that stinky vent and popped onto the floor of the office while Dhee slithered back into the vent after dragging purple's body in.
I thought of what to do. My helmet blinked and turned on. What what. "Crewmate Cat has to do these tasks:...."
I checked the task bar. I had a medbay scan, a divert power task, wiring, and reactor task. Nothing new from the Skeld, so that was good. What's even better was that I have a visual task.
As I approached the laboratory, I saw a large door in my way. It looked nothing like the doors from the Skeld. "Hey! Veg!" I whipped around. It was brown.
"Oh...hey...um" Crap. I don't know their names yet.
"Veg, you don't know how to open the doors? You silly person! I bet you even forgot my name!"
"About that...."
"It's Dede! Also you open the doors by pressing this button...." Brown- no- Dede pressed the button beside the door. It opened immediately. I awkwardly entered the long room. "Decontamination" my helmet said. What a weird room. I walked to the front of the door at the end of the room. Why didn't it open?
Some weird white mist sprayed out of hoses from all directions. No wonder it was called decontamination. But I had something else to worry about. Dede was with me in decontamination. In my moment of panic, I knocked off my helmet.
Dede gasped. They realised. It wasn't Veg, but rather an impostor. "You haven't killed me," his face darkened, "you're that crew-postor." He ran the opposite way, frantically pressing the button that opened the door to let him back into the laboratory. I assumed he was going to the cafeteria, where the emergency button was.
Dhee popped out of the decontamination vent, "Too bad, I don't need that much time to digest my victims." Her mouth popped wide open and a straight and sharp tongue came out, piercing Dede through the helmet, and consumed their upper body before pulling their corpse into a vent.
Dhee turned to me, "Don't make that mistake ever again. That nearly got you ejected."
The lights flickered red: "EMERGENCY MEETING"
"Let's go. We don't wanna be sus. Put your helmet on quickly." Dhee dragged me to the cafeteria. She was sure fast. Crew-postor....was that what they were terming me?
I looked at the board to familiarize myself with the names there.
Security1 seemed visibly upset at the cafeteria table. When questioned what, he pointed to the vent that we had entered by. He told us all to look down. We saw an escape pod underneath, "They're here."
"Well, I was in the office, and I saw a trail of blood leading into the vent."
Dhee, I mean Dede, and I exchanged a quick glance with each other.
