Hermione was sitting against the tree in the back yard of the burrow. She was reading a book and noticed that Harry, Ron, the twins, Bill, and Charlie were setting up for a game of quidditch. She didn't see Ginny with them but figured that she and Luna were snogging in her bedroom. Hermione returned to her book.

-----

A couple hours later, Hermione heard a small scream come from the burrow and she looked up to see Ginny running towards her, Luna not far behind.

"Hermione! Hermione! Did you read the Daily Prophet yet?" Ginny asked as she reached Hermione. Hermione shook her head, wondering what rumors Rita Skeeter was writing.

"Apprently, Dumbledore is hosting a back to school ball!" Ginny said. Hermione looked at her confused. "Why on earth is he throwing a back to school ball?" She asked. It seemed rather unusual for him to do something like that, but then again the man himself was unusual.

Ginny shrugged. "I don't know but mum is taking us dress shopping today so get up and get your cloak on!" Ginny pulled Hermione up and then whispered something in her ear. "You might want to change into something nicer. You never know who you're run into at Diagon Alley."

-----

Hermione came down the staris in a skirt and blouse and her hair up in a bun. She grabbed her traveling cloak and went into the living room where Mrs. Weasley, Luna, and Ginny were waiting. "Ready to go dear?" Mrs. Weasley asked. Hermione nodded and then she stepped into the fireplace. Mrs. Weasley handed her some floo powder. "Diagon Alley."

Hermione landed in the Leaky Cauldron. She was soon followed by Luna, Ginny, and Mrs. Weasley. "I have some errands to run so you girls go ahead to the dress shop and I'll meet you there in an hour." Mrs. Weasley rushed out of the Leaky Cauldron. Ginny grabbed Hermione and Luna's hands and walked out of the pub. They quickly made their way down the street and into a dress shop.

As soon as they stepped into the shop, a woman approached them. She was wearing an apron over a flower dress. Her long brown hair was pulled into a bun and Hermione could see gray streaks in it. She estimated that the woman was in her 40s.

"How can I help you young ladies?" The woman gave them a bright smile. "We are just gonna try on some dresses," Luna responded. The older woman nodded."Let me know if you need anything." She then went to the back of the shop.

Hermione started to browse the store, looking for anything that caught her eye. Her eyes landed on a dress that was hung up on a shelf. It was a dark blue and it had an open back. The dress had gems that came from the bottom and decreased on its way up. It was beautiful. "Hermione that dress is gorgeous!" Ginny came up from behind her. "Go try it on!" Ginny practically shoved Hermione into the dressing room.

A few moments latter Hermione came out of the dressing room. Ginny and Luna both gasped. "Oh Hermione, you look like a princess." Luna said. Hermione noticed a few things in Ginny's hands. "What are those?" She asked. Ginny looked down and then back up at her. "Accessories I thought would look good with the dress." Ginny said.

Ginny walked over to her. She put on a headband on Hermione's head that had a blue saphire in the middle of it and then diamonds along the side. She then handed her dangling earrings that each had a blue saphire in it. She then put down Hermione's hair and placed to the side and put a hairclip in it so it would stay. Ginny and Luna stared at her in awe. "Hermione you look like a princess." Ginny said.

Hermione turned around to look at herself in the mirror. She gasped. She did look like a princess. She turned around and smiled at the girls. "I love it."
