Rachel pov:
It's divine intervention that i found her.
Serene, that is. Or at least thats how people with best friends are in stories would say when they meet their closest companion. But for us? nah, its more like a lime meets a lemon, unequally sour, but both in need of each other. I may look like a sweet soft spoken girl, but deep inside, i'm extroverted and crazy
It was a warm summer eve, the smell of tangerines and cherry blossoms were swathed over our district, Aaoyama. rose pink cherry sweets and strawberry scented fortune cookies. Hope had given me a cofee jelly with whipped cream. It wasn't particularly tasty, but it filled up the feeling of emptiness. And a few slices of castella ....yum. I opened my mouth for the sweet succulent snack, the sun flaring a tangerine orange itself.
"Hmm, it's more of an amber." Azami murmured, helping her self to a nother slice of castella. "Or perhaps a carrot." I couldn't agree more. As the sun darkened it flickered so many different spectrum, you could barely tell what it was, two faced torch.
Maybe that was the point of it, your not supposed to label such a beautiful sunset, because then it would no longer be special.
"They said that greeks believed a new sun would come up every day and go down the following evening." I blurted out suddenly.
"Don't you find that fascinating?"
My chubby friend slowly swallowed her castella, flicking of the remaining crumbs on her blue skirt.
"It honestly depends." she yawned. "Why would a sun, that people are so dependent on, never remain constant? If it changes all the time it's like your life is a lie."
I stood up, staring down at my sad little acquaintance. "But thats whats so awesome!" I chanted randomly. "It's unpredictable, and it has a new purpose, like a burning phoenix."
"Your working way to hard here." Someone spoke from the other side of the room. It was Alison. No introduction necessary for this girl. She wasn't mean or crazy. But she was rude, and stuck her nose in other people's business. I don't especially dislike her, but i do find her strange. Her beauty mixed with her outlandish personality made a weird combo. But even she is more like the ever changing sun, then i would ever be.
"Are you too writing a poem or something? Your both are drawling over the star like it isnt making school miserably hot every day, keep at it and the heat will just seem more unbearable."
"Your loss, not mine All." i sighed, sinking back down into my chair. As embarrassing as it was, she was right. The sun did make classes, especially double period maths, a nightmare on wheels. But its not like i have powers or something, i can't magically flick the switch. "I'm not an air conditioner so i can't do that much about it."
"Well you certainly need some hair conditioner, if anything." One of her friends laughed. Alison's eye brows furrowed in confusion. "Whats wrong with her hair?"
"I mean, just look at that reggae hair, can't you fix that at least?" My blood ran cold. afew other kids beg
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah, Excuse you? What the hell was that comment for? that was so uncalled for?" Alison stood up angrily.
The girl flushed angrily as all eyes were pinned on her. "I mean...it's it's not like i actually meant it." she muttered angrily. "Quit being so sensitive geez."
A book slammed shut causing everyone in the room to turn. A girl with jade hazel eyes and glossy brown hair was the imposter. She had been quietly listening, intently as she studied. As she threw off her reading glasses we all watched in suprise as she looked at the racist, dead in the eyes, that is the most intimidating stare i've ever seen.
