Everyone is a moon and has a dark side

which he never shows to anybody.

There was a cozy town. It was the type of town that you can miss if you were to skim a map. The kind of town where everybody knows everyone. The sort of town that paints an unblemished serene image to the outsider's eye.

Cozy, friendly, perfect.

But nothing is perfect.

The thing about these small towns, they often incarcerate the biggest secrets.

The people are like blocks, each in its own idiosyncratic structure. They make up the big picture.

In big cities, people are disconnected from each other. They hide behind the many curves and bend of their block. The people closest to them only know one side. Thus, a loose structure is formed. This makes it easy to find a way to push your block in. To make your block fit in.

Small towns. The people here know the many sides of each person. Probing eyes scrutinize for your edges and lines and how you fit in. Everyone has their own role. Each block in small towns fit perfectly.

Into a perfect cage.

In the tightly bound cage, secrets lay hidden. A cage so complex, even water, let alone a block can't fit through. They can't escape either.

Tucked in the small crevice of this cozy town, Llyn.

Secrets are sealed.

Hidden away from prying eyes. Whispers of the unmentionable only mention in the comforting grasp of light and family.

The whispers hinted and jeered at a cursed family.

The Aphelions.

They are unknown even within the tightly built town. Rumors of the cursed family spread like ripples tearing through water. Every uttered word was a shockwave to the once tranquil waters.

The family was, like they said, testing the waters of the town.

This simple town, for unknown reasons, was known to attract strange creatures. The normal locals had these odd occurrences under control. Most of the creatures want to hide. Most of the town members shun them if a word about their particularity reached their ears. This made most creatures act as normal as they could, after all, we all know the pressing boulder called peer pressure. If they didn't, the town gets rid of them. Using whatever methods available.

The Aphelions weren't like the other peculiar beings, they flaunted their oddity. Perhaps they can't hide their abnormality. Whatever the case was, much remained unknown about the family.

The information the town had was limited.

The family lived in the oldest part of Llyn. Their house was gothic and grand, many lived in the house for a few days before moving out. The Aphelions were the only ones to stay in the house. One could say the house was waiting for them.

There was a mom. She had a beautiful figure. Tall and imposing to some and weak and timid to others. No one knows her true form but all agreed she is beautiful. Her face and hair are covered with a flowing onyx veil. Her allure was powerful enough to make men or women if they desired the same gender to commit crimes they wouldn't have done at the mere sound of her voice. The women of the town called her a vixen and the men called her a siren.

There was a dad. The people of Llyn thought so. He had never been seen before. The mom had bought products meant for men. There was a dad.

There was a brother. He seemed to be the eldest of the trio siblings. Glimpses of him were seen around town. He has a dark alluring aura. As if the devil has taken the form of a dark-skinned angel. Two daring teenage girls got his name. Eclipse Aphelion, the two giddy girls told the town. The girls were struck with a series of unfortunate events. One of the girls died while the other lost her sight. The one who survived ultimately went mad. The boy was spotted at the girl's funerals. He wore a translucent flowing onyx veil and an expressionless face.

The town couldn't kick them out. Most of the unfortunate events happen because the girls were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Their proof was unstable.

There was a sister. She was the older one of the two sisters. She was the most well-liked in the cursed family by the town's people. She had thick tresses of pure gold. Her skin was as soft as fresh flower petals in the spring. She seemed pure, untouched, and cold like the freshly fallen snow. Before it was tarnished by the pollution of humans. Nature's last gift. It didn't matter what she said, when she spoke the world seem to hang on to her every word. Whether it be a death or a charity, nature itself would do anything to help her. She was an angel, that Aurora Aphelion, it was a pity she disappeared, they would say.

There was one last girl.

Nova Aphelion.

She was the most frightening according to some hushed whispers.

She was different.

Different, even different from the other members of her family.

Long wispy silver hair, so shiny, one can see their own selves. Almost like a mirror. Big pools of reflective blood for her eyes. Many felt shivers from making eye contact. The hushed feeling of one's future and death changed by a glance of those eyes. Eyes are the window to a person's soul. In her eyes, all one can see is oneself. Did she take your soul or has it never been yours? Her eyes were like a mirror. Her body seems different to everyone. They say it all matches theirs. Maybe, their body matches her's. It was like a mirror.

When she talks, she would say something you were thinking. When she moves, she has the skill of the last person who happens to gaze upon her vivid eyes.

The people of Llyn had a reason to be frightened. Nonetheless, they never got rid of them. It was an unspoken treaty, if the family didn't bother anyone then the town's people wouldn't bother them.

New people who come to the town never catch a whiff of the family.

It was better that way.

But even the cursed is human, and humans yearn.

Nova yearned. She yearned ever so much. She was a dreamer. She believed if you wish upon the right shooting star, your wish will come true. Her wish was quite simple.

Nova was lonely. Trapped in stares and whispers. Wrapped in the chains the form of her anomalous ability. The word "normal" was as alien as the dark side of the moons in the sky.

But humans have seen the dark side of both moons. Normal wasn't impossible. At least it wasn't in a twisted way.

Fate is cruel, even more so to bring him to her inconsequential life.

(>人<) Thanks so much for reading my inadequate writing. I really need more practice. (>人<)

This chapter is short since it's the prologue, don't worry it will get a lot longer.
