It had been two weeks since Delilah had arrived in 1985 and she had barely thought about the unconventional way she'd gotten there ever since her first night in a hotel with the band. To her surprise, she had not even wanted to go back to 2019. She had been perfectly happy borrowing large yellow shirts from Curt, a hair brush from Ian and black flat top shoes from Roland.
Smiling down at the feet in which she wore them on, she remembered Manny's joke about Roland having tiny enough feet in order to share his shoes with a girl. Even though they were slightly too big on her, Manny was right. Roland did have small feet.
Sitting down on the bed on which she'd be sleeping for the night, Delilah sighed in exhaustion as she slipped off Roland's shoes but then proceeded to put on one of his large sweaters for a night gown. She loved every part of his wardrobe, especially his sweaters, even though he had recently gained painful criticism from Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! for what he wore. She shook her head at the criticism as she began to drift off. How could anyone say that about him? she wondered. And then she was asleep.
                                   ...
Flashes of light gleamed in her peripheral vision as she stood in the street. Trying to move her legs, she knew that it wouldn't work, she was too paralyzed from fear. At that, a hard thing hit her and sent her flying through the air only for her to land with a roll but, this time, not very much pain. She recognized this scenario. This was the day of her accident, the day she had gone back in time.
Making a mental note to find the album that she had lost, Delilah looked a few feet ahead of her to find it was laying face up. In the natural, it was the wrong angle to see it at but despite that she could now recognize the faces on it. She gasped. Is that...Roland and Curt? she thought in shock. As quickly as she had gotten there, Delilah was then being pulled away from the wreck and back to the shop where she had first bought it. Words of the vaguely familiar woman that had sold it to her floated into her mind. This album will take you back in time...literally.
Delilah sat up with wide eyes and a shaking body that was drenched in sweat. What...just...happened? she thought partially in fear and partially in confusion. She knew that what she had just experienced was not a dream but rather a memory that she never knew she had. An unexpected thought then came to her. Do I still have the receipt from that album?
Flying out of the bed, Delilah threw open the hotel closet where she kept the borrowed clothes and dug through the pockets of the outfit she'd been wearing when she was hit. Come on, come on, where is it? I know I placed it in my pocket she thought just as she reached into a front pocket and pulled it out.
"Aha!" she cried loudly but then covered her mouth. I can't wake anyone up. She then yanked open the wrinkled receipt and looked over it frantically for some sort of proof it was from the future when she found Date of purchase: April 21, 2019.
It was at that moment that a realization came to her that she did not have to think up. Almost like someone put it there rather than her brain coming up with it. I need to get back to that store and find that clerk before I can go back to 2019. It just won't happen any other way. Sighing at the thought of even leaving the band, especially Roland, Delilah looked down at the receipt deep in thought. Despite the promise that she had made to herself that she would never tell him her secret, she knew that it had to happen at some point or another. Even if the confession made him believe that she was insane.
                                  ...
Delilah could not sleep for the rest of the night and woke up early to find Roland standing out on the balcony with a cup of tea in his hands. As she was about to approach him, she stopped dead in her tracks as she noticed Nicky standing next to him. A sudden burst of jealousy shot down her spine as she watched the two laugh at a joke that she wasn't involved in. Don't be a child Delilah. You are not going to feel jealous of her. He's just talking to her. She then took a deep breath and walked over bravely to them where Roland smiled brightly and Nicky became quiet.
"Hey, you're up early," he said in his deep British accent which stimulated a feeling in her that she could not quite explain.
"Heh, yeah. I couldn't sleep," she replied awkwardly. "And also...I had something I wanted to tell you too."
"Ok, you have my attention," he answered turning completely towards her and then shoving his hands into his pockets. She was completely ready and willing to tell him about the receipt, the time traveling and the record, but she stopped dead in her tracks with that single move he made.
Looking at him, she swooned at his tight white sweater that he wore with somewhat baggy sweats and white Adidas. He looked amazing today and seemed like he felt good too. She could tell that he was staring at her with a gentle expression that mirrored something like admiration. Surprisingly enough, even Nicky looked like she somewhat liked her. Delilah was frozen, stuck without being able to move. She couldn't tell him, not now, not today, not even in the near future. He would think he was crazy, a lunatic, and she couldn't handle that not after everything that had happened.
Throughout her whole minute of thought, Roland and Nicky quickly glanced at each other and then back at her. Roland was about to ask her what she had been about to say when all of a sudden she blurted out:
"I-I was going to...to tell you...nothing. I'm sorry, it was nothing." Cocking his head at her, Roland squinted in confusion as Delilah blushed. "Just you guys continue with your conversation and I'll just head over...to the cafe for some...coffee." She was suddenly breathless as Roland and Nicky watched her walk away with a pale look on her face. It was the first time she'd ever blatantly lied to Roland, and probably not the last.
