Shinsei: Dang right it is *hits on the head*
Atoranta: You didn't have to do that tho-
Shinsei: Also, what is that title?
Atoranta: Yeah yeah, I know we should've used it for a Cathy x reader, but It was too perfect
Shinsei: ...
Atoranta: Aaaaand onto Shinsei's writing!
Shinsei: I'm not done with you yet--
WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK-
Checking the clock, you made a sound of surprise as you realized what time it was. You were supposed to meet Yuma, Tori, and Astral over ten minutes ago. As you scrambled to get ready, you reprimanded yourself, both speaking and thinking.
Putting your shoes on, you opened the door, looking down to see a small kitten. His fur was white, blue eyes gazing up at you as it meowed. You blinked, your (e/c) eyes taking in the feline in front of you.
"Hey there, kitty," you said, crouching down to stroke his head. He purred, leaning into your touch as you glanced down at the collar. A golden band was around his neck, holding a tag that you knew was the one Cathy put on her cat friends.
"Did you run away from her?" you asked, picking him up and holding him gently. "I should probably take you back. Cathy's most likely freaking out right now." But the kitten's blue eyes were pleading with you to stay.
Dang it, you couldn't say no. Your soft spot was cats.
Or a certain Astral Being.
"Fine. But only because you're so cute," you sighed, starting to walk towards the Heartland City park. "You're lucky I'm already late to hang out with Yuma, Tori, and Astral." Taking out your phone, you texted Cathy, telling her that he was safe and sent a photo for proof. After a few minutes, she texted back, thanking you and telling you that she'd get him that evening. She also told you his name- Lumi.
He reminded you of Astral. Even though you had only just started to see him, thanks to the World Duel Carnival. The entire World Duel Carnival had seemed like a vivid dream to you. Especially the duel that Kite, Shark, and Yuma had against Doctor Faker. You were just glad that everyone was fine afterwards.
But, after all the time you had vouched for Yuma, saying that he wasn't insane when he said that there was a ghost following him paid off. After that day, you could see him. Astral. And even though that was the first time you had seen him, you felt like you knew him, even before.
You had communicated with him through Yuma, even though sometimes he really wasn't willing. It was a relief when you two could finally have a conversation without having to use Yuma to let you know what Astral said. Especially after your heart had started to feel differently towards him.
And that feeling bubbled up to the surface as you saw the familiar light-blue alien floating next to Yuma as the middle-schooler yelled at him for whatever reason. Tori stood to the side, her hand covering her mouth slightly as she giggled.
A smile emerged on your face as you watched. Astral's eyes, one golden and one white, moved over to look at you. And a warmth started in his chest, one that made him look down in slight surprise. Sure, it had shown up before, but never this much.
"Yo, (y/n)! I thought I'd be the late one, but you're later than me!" Yuma said as you came over.
"Sorry," you said, laughing a little. "I lost track of time." Astral looked at the kitten you held, floating slightly closer as he studied it.
