Kai woke up. His back ached like no tomorrow. The realization of where he was took a few seconds to dawn on him. Once his mind had caught up with the situation he froze. He than slowly opened his mouth and screaming filled the building.
The lack of water caused his throat to become sore but now it was even worse after the minutes of nonstop sreaming . Kai stood up and took in the house with the sun's beams shining through the dusting windows.
"How do I get home?" Kai asked himself but he was at a loss. "Who would know what to do?" Then it hit him. "Master Wu! But where would he be?" Kai decided to figure out the date before he started wandering around Ninjago.
He pulled open the door and took a step outside. Ninjago city would be east from where he was but the monastery was much closer. It was probably burned down, but it was worth a shot. Kai jumped into the air creating a dragon that he landed on. With a flick of the rein's he was soaring.
It took ten minutes for him to fly to the monastery and to his surprise it was still standing. Luckily no one was in the yard to see him. The fire ninja landed on the roof quietly. If anyone but Wu saw him it could change the future. Change anything, change everything.
Weird combat sounds came from somewhere in the building. Kai was confused. There was no one in yard training and no other room was big enough for combat unless they wanted to crash through a wall. When Master Wu slid opened a door suddenly it came back to the red ninja. Memories of videogames went through his head.
The Sensai opened another door revealing the past ninja. Kai made sure to keep himself hidden but couldn't help but grin at the sight. There they sat in their old ninja uniforms, minutes away from meeting their future brother and leader. Kai moved closer to hear the conversation. Wu had just unplug the tv and all the baby ninja shouted.
"It took us three hours to get there!"
"Why did you do that? Why?" Jay yelled.
"Just because Lord Garmadon escaped through a vortex doesn't mean he won't return one day for the golden weapons." Wu warned. Kai wasn't sure if he wanted to laugh or groan at what he was seeing.
"But Sensei Wu ever since he's been gone, Ninjago has had nothing but peace." Zane said waving his hand through the air.
"Yeah peace is boring. There is no one to save, nothing to do." Jay said like some naive little bird walking into the mouth of a cat and telling itself it was safe.
"We can train tomorrow." Cole laid down on the floor. Kai narrowed his eyes. Only a few months ago his present team had gotten out of shape causing major embarrassment but these past selves seemed...much worse.
"Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today." Wu said his famous line. But this made Ka think, the old man only explains or tells them stuff until its too late. Why doesn't Wu tell them the important stuff today instead of tomorrow?
"Well I was going to eat this pizza tomorrow, so if that's the case-" Wu kicked the pizza out of Cole's hands causing it to fly out of the room.
"No pizza for you! In order to reach your full potential you must train!" Present Kai nodded at this. Than his past self spoke.
"Uh... you remember when we did a little thing called the tornado of creation? I thought that was pretty insane." Present Kai's mouth fell open and he felt like cringing. He could feel his face light up in embarrassment even though no one was around. Master Wu sighed causing Present Kai to feel even more embarrassed. He also felt bad for Sensei for having to deal with them.
