The scientist leaned over his work, trying to figure out the project he was working on.
Whenever the scientist got frustrated, he could feel his skin start to turn green. But thankfully, the big guy didn't want to come out right now.
Bruce Banner had always been an isolated guy, who was practically controlled by his not-so-nice companion. He didn't want to hurt anyone, no matter how angry he got.
Ever since he became one of the members of the Avengers, he felt more in control. Bruce had finally almost become the master, the one in charge.
Almost.
Until he had gone through a wormhole to Sakaar. The place where Hulk had taken over once more.
But when Bruce got back, hulk didn't want to come out anymore. That could be good or bad.
But Bruce didn't want to think about it.
The scientist was busy, to say the least. The avengers had broken up, and that left Bruce in a less than comfortable state of mind. So he busied himself with whatever he could; projects, patients, whatever kept his mind off things.
But Bruce was getting tired. He hadn't slept for days and he kept putting off eating until his stomach felt like it was mush. He was mostly sustaining himself on energy bars. You would think a scientist would be smart enough to take care of himself, right?
But the scientist couldn't think about that, all he could think about was the project he had layed put before him. What the project was? No one, but the scientist himself, knew.
Bruce worked hours and hours, his moves were getting slopier and his eyes kept drifting. It was the dead of night, but Bruce wasn't aware of that. He thought it was still morning, when he last ate an energy bar.
But Bruce wasn't really aware of anything at that moment. He wasn't aware of the creeking of a door on the floor below him. He wasn't aware of the sound of guns being cocked, or the tiniest prick of something shooting into his neck.
The scientist wasn't aware of what was happening, still, as darkness clouded his vision and Bruce fell to the floor.
