"my friends probably hate me can't answer a message"real life ~
Rain tapped the window, just barely audible over the whirling pc. The mumbling of music, soft laughs and rustling chip bags had become the norm during quarantine. After the March shut down of schools shifted into summer break, Bre had only really noticed one change in her life. In the form of a hobby quickly turned job, streaming became the only constant she'd ever had.
It has started as a joke, a stupid one really. She was already playing the games, and talking to herself, when something popped up on her TikTok feed.
It was a short video clip, from early in March, of a random guy dicking around on Minecraft, while someone donated the entire Bee Movie script to his text-to-speech donations. It had been the only thing to stir emotions in her for the first time in weeks.
Her face hurt had hurt after watching it, the smile so wide she felt giddy. She sent it to her friend, Ashton, commenting about how "fucking genius" the person who made the donation had to be. Ashton was quick to respond, with something along the lines of "if you ever streamed, I would bombard you with copy pastas in your donations".
This became a running joke between the girls when they played Minecraft on Xbox , pretending to make let's plays and repeatedly start citing random parts of the Bee Movie script. They always joked about how hilarious it would be to fuck around with streaming, but never tried to explore the idea.
Until, in late April, after more than a month of the same jokes between the girls, Bre took the leap. It happened during a normal call between the girls, both cleaning their respective rooms while talking shit about random people. "You know, I'm really fucking tired of getting arthritis every time I play Minecraft," Bre joked after a lapse of silence in the call, "I'm really considering buying a gaming computer."
Ashton almost snorted, "Dude, as if. Where the fuck would you put it? Your room is tiny!" Ashton could almost feel the smile in her voice, with how much she talked about streamers and how she wanted to do it, this has been the first time she talked about getting the necessary supplies to do so.
"I'm offended you think I haven't thought this out! Why the fuck do you think I'm cleaning?" Bre snarked. She was very aware of how tiny her room was, she fucking slept in the bitch every night.
"I thought the fumes had finally got to you, or your mom got on you ass," was the only reply she got before the call went silent again. She huffed slightly, moving her bed to sweep under it. She had gathered a huge as pile of dirt and dust in the middle of her floor. She stepped around it as she set down the larger broom, trading it in for a hand held and dust pan.
She froze, thinking for a second, the said, "fuck it, I'm ordering it right now."
And that's how it began. Not even twenty minutes later, her desired computer had been order, along with a desk and chair. Her cleaning forgotten, including the mound of dirt.
She had left the call with Ashton not long after her sudden decision to spend her savings.
She sat back on her bed, which has been set slightly askew from the cleaning attempt. She folded her arms behind her head, back pressed against the mound of pillows. She sighed, content. It was a feeling she didn't feel often, but somehow buying an expensive ass computer brought it to her. And that was enough justification for the money spent to her.
