Chapter 13 - Knight's Storm

We chose our cars and agreed on the course. The race began and both of us were soon far ahead of the other racers. We were neck and neck. He was really surprised at my skill. I guess I am good. When playing alone it was always my goal to pass the CPU a lap around before finishing the race. Normal races were boring and I'd always win. After a lot of laughing and shouting the match was over, I passed the finish line moments before him.

"So you're also a pro gamer... Y'know you're just full of surprises." He said sounding a bit frustrated which made me chuckle. I was honestly having a lot of fun. We played many more matches. I lost some and won some. I streched my arms and looked at the clock, it was almost eleven PM. We've been playing for quite a while.

"Wow, its late." I say in surprise.

"It is!" Marie says noticing the time as well. 

"How did you get here?" She asks probably noticing the lack of car outside their house.

"I rode my skateboard." I reply.

"Oh, so you live around here?" She says sounding a bit excited.

"I live about two miles away." I answer casually. Both Liam and Marie now giving me strange looks.

"That's crazy. You rode your skateboard all the way here?" She asks and I nod.

"I feel kinda bad asking you to come now." Marie states with a little sadness in her voice.

"No no, its totally fine! I had a lot of fun today." I say now looking towards Liam. He gave a soft smile.

"Liam would you mind driving him home?" Marie says more as an order than a question. He nods and heads out the door, I quickly follow after thanking Marie for inviting me. She told me she'd love it if I came over more often and invited me again. I had a very good time today so there's no way I'm turning down the offer. I just hope Liam is okay with it.

I pick up my skateboard off the lawn and head towards Liam. He walked up to a car in the garage and pointed to the front seat. I sat in the car holding my skateboard to my chest. He pulled out of the driveway and headed towards my house after asking for the directions. I realize I'm alone with Liam again. I started gazing at him without intention.

"Something wrong?" He asks staring back at me.

"I... I just wanted to thank you for today. I had a really good time." I say pulling my eyes from him and placing them at my lap.

"You don't have to thank me. I enjoyed today as well." He says while giving a reassuring smile.

"I hope its not a problem for you with me showing up like this. I'm sorry if I caused any trouble." I say with worry obvious in my voice.

"You really are cute." I must have heard that wrong. There is no way he'd think I'm cute, he was probably just messing with me. That didn't stop me from turning fifty shades of red though.

"Don't worry. Like I said I enjoyed today. Wouldn't mind you coming over again." He finishes. I didn't know what to say, my words now becoming jumbled. I realize I'm making a fool of myself so I just stop talking all together.

We arrived at my house. I got out and thanked him for giving me a ride home. It seems this was becoming quite familiar.
