4. Books aren't judged by covers

Of course, looks never serve true to what is inside.

At school, both Blue and Garrett had a certain image for themselves, but when there's only 3 of them, Jo never gets bored around these two. Unlike their images, in real life, Blue was probably the most playful and happy boy, almost like he's a puppy. Garrett is typically less energetic, but when they go crazy, Jo would get tired very quickly because they both spin her around like a tornado. For example, when they were 12, all 3 families decided "hang on, since we are all very close friends, why don't the 3 families go on a road trip?" And that was THE craziest week Jo ever had.

The 3 families went to a lake house, where all the adults got their own rooms, leaving 2 rooms for 6 kids. Blue's older sister decided that since she's the oldest, she would stay with Garrett's and Jo's little brothers, while the 3 middle schoolers can share a room. Jo is the only girl in the friend group and got a separate bed, while the 2 boys bunked for a week.

The three of them have always been close but Blue and Garretts were both boys, so before that trip, they sometimes left Jo out. But soon, 2 boys realized that while Jo seemed quiet and nerdy, she was the real rebel in the group. First time skinny dipping was Jo's idea, and Garrett was scared of heights until Jo jumped into the lake first, surprising both boys and left them without many choices but to follow her.

Of course, the parents were far from being fine with 3 kids jumping off a cliff into a lake, but after that afternoon, Jo never got left out anymore.

As they grew up, the boys would come to Jo with girl problems, and Jo being a smart bookworm, would help them with homework and stuff. In return, Jo never got bullied at school with the two best guy friends, and had great shopping buddies. The 3 of them have always been best friends, from kindergarten to elementary school, throughout middle school and now high school.

Until Blue decided to ask Jo out on a date while the 3 were watching a movie at Garrett's house.
