5. Why me?

It was Saturday night last week. Blue, Garrett and Jo were all done with homework, so they decided to pop out a couple of Disney movies and snacks for a movie session. Like said above, Garrett and Blue were very different from their images at school, and watching Disney movies has always been a thing that the three did together since little.

-" What do you mean you didn't ask Melanie out for homecoming?!?"
-" I didn't, that's what I meant." Garrett shrugged, successfully threw a piece of chocolate into Blue's mouth from across the couch.
-" Then why the heck did she tell everyone that you did?"
-" You're the girl, why are you asking us." He laughed before handing Jo the chips, and Blue on the other side tapped on Jo's shoulder.
-" Well, Garrett's complicated love story aside, guess what I heard?"
-" I never know anything!" Jo laughed out loud "teas I knew are always because you guys told me."
-" Well we do tell you a lot don't we, so you wouldn't need to hear it from random people!" He smiled. Blue had a really pretty smile. He's actually a very soft person, unlike the broken-and-dangerous-but-hot persona he had in public. Blue had always loved going to the park and just hang out there, especially with Jo because they both loved seesawing. Garrett loved chilling with them precisely because they both still enjoyed the little things.
-" So are you gonna tell me what you heard anytime this year?" Jo giggled and looked at Blue. He's wearing the hoodie they all got together last Christmas, the multicolored one only because Jo said she wanted to see what a Christmas tree with ornaments felt like. His hair was all over the place again, but Jo likes it when it's chaotic like that because it just goes well with his blue puppy-like eyes.
-" You're getting voted for Hoco queen this year."
-" Yeahhh I expected tea not a joke Blue." Jo laughed at the idea of anyone voting for her. As if people in this school liked her enough to do that.
-" I'm dead serious now, they really are. Noah is in the committee and he told me."
-" Pfft, give me one good reason why they do then."
-" Uhh, have you seen an invention of the human race called mirror?"
-" Wowww no I haven't, tell me more!" The thing about Jo is that she's sarcastic, and doesn't get offended so easily like most girls at BevHigh do. Jo thought maybe that's why she's friends with guys more than girls.
-" So the mirror's supposed to show you this beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring and overall AMAZING gal, and then you'd see she's actually quite popular among her peers." Blue said, equally sarcastic. Garrett nodded his head as Blue talked, and realized that he never noticed how incredible of a girl Jo is, although they've been friends since as long as he can remember. No wonder.
-" One, thank you for pointing that out, but in case you haven't noticed, I'm kind of a loner. It's you two who are famous." Jo giggled as she leaned back.
-" Hate to break it to you Jo but have you noticed that the basketball guys have been hanging around your locker a lot more lately? And actually talk to you?" Garrett pointed it out. Jo is very smart academically, but sometimes she needs a bit help in the social department.
-" Literally because you're always hanging around my locker."
-" And the Brookes sisters have been friendlier to you."
-" I don't know, being rich popular and pretty, maybe they wanted my help." Jo shrugged. Blue found it oddly enjoyable watching her shrugging. When Jo shrugs, she tilts her head a bit to the right and makes this "hphm" noise while puffing her cheeks, and it's just so damn adorable.
-" No dummy, they've been telling people that you're actually a pretty cool person." Blue butted in as Garrett got up to go get the popcorns.

Seniors talking to people about a sophomore as "pretty cool", now that's something.

-" Well why me?"
-" I'm gonna repeat this in case you're still not processing it. You are beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring and overall amazing." Blue smiled, leaned his head on his knee. "Speaking of which, what are you doing tomorrow night?"
-" The Vampire Diaries." Jo loved that show, it's her all time favorite.
-" Well, how about I take you out for dinner? Then we can watch a movie, or get ice cream at that shop on Main you love."
-" Yeah sure. Oh wait but I think Gare has practice.."
-" No, I meant just us two. You and me."
-"... I'm not following.." like said above, Jo needs help in the social department. She's never used to it.

Blue smiled and tilted his head. Jo noticed him trembling just a little bit, he took a deep breathe, and.. he's blushing.. or something. Blue leaned closer to her and slowly said:
-" Jo Kimmel Parker, would you go out on a date with me tomorrow night?"
