Ahead of her was an incredible sight.

Trees formed winding walkways across the cave where many elves could be seen. Golden light came flooding in through magnificent windows which caused a warm glow to fill every crack and crevice.

Voices could be heard in the air as a song was delicately sung.

Val laughed and spun around, trying to take everything in.

'She never said it was so beautiful.' Whispered Val to no one in particular.

Beside her, Legolas opened his mouth to speak but a guard dragged Val forward to where the dwarves were.

They were led down to the dungeons but Val and Thorin were pulled to the side. The she elf guessed they were going to go before the king.

In front of her, dwarves were being shoved into cells and Fili was deprived of yet another weapon.

How many does he have?

'Aren't you going to search me? I could have anything down my trousers?' Said Kili and Val looked to where he was. Tauriel was the one tasked with locking him up.

'Or nothing.' Replied the she elf before shutting the cell door in his face.

Val bit back a laugh and watched as Kili stared at Tauriel and smiled to himself. The dwarf caught Val's gaze and put on an innocent face. Val only raised an eyebrow with a knowing look.

'Why does that Dwarf stare at you, Tauriel?' Said a voice.

Val saw that Legolas was questioning Tauriel.

'Who can say? He's quite tall for a Dwarf,' She began, 'Do you not think?'

Val was a little shocked that Tauriel noticed this about Kili but sensed that something could happen between them and that made her extremely happy.

'Taller than some...' Said Legolas. 'but no less ugly.'

Val let out a snort and looked on amused as elf and dwarf had a stare off.

A few moments later, Thorin along with Val were brought before King Thranduil. Legolas stayed with Val while Thorin was addressed first.

'Some may imagine that a Noble quest is at hand. A Quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon,' said King Thranduil, who walked around. 'I myself, suspect a more prosaic motive. Attempted burglary, or something of that ilk.'

Val had to give it to him, he knew what he was talking about.

The king leaned down, seemingly realising something, 'You have found a way in. You seek that which would bestow upon you the right to rule. A King's jewel. The Arkenstone. It is precious to you beyond measure, I understand that.'

Hardly, thought Val.

'There are gems in the mountain that I too desire. White gems of pure starlight.'

Val's nostrils flared in anger, apparently so noticeable that Legolas looked at her in confusion.

He would take those gems over Legolas!! Thought Val, I can feel Yvanna's anger from here.

'I offer you my help.'

Thorin smiled, 'I am listening.'

Val thought Thorin was cooperating too well for it to be true.

'I will let you go, if you but return what is mine.' Stated King Thranduil.

The she elf knew this was a reasonable offer but she also knew of dwarves and their possessive nature when it comes to gold and gems.
