"They tell me think with my head, not that thing in my chest
They got their hands at my neck this time
But you're the one that I want, if that's really so wrong
Then they don't know what this feeling is like"
This Feeling - The ChainsmokersoOoOo
"Katherine, what the hell were you thinking?" My father asks.
"Hey, Dad. How was your flight?" I wave.
My mother sends me a stern look.
Okay, I get it. Now is not the time.
"She wasn't thinking, Liam."
My parents stand up from their spots on the couch. I see my father look past me, presumably at Kaden, based on the way his eyes harden.
This is not how I envisioned Kaden meeting my parents.
"Hello, your Majesty. I'm Kaden Bianchi, Kate's boyfriend," Kaden says, holding his hand out to shake my father's.
He looks Kaden up and down before gripping his hand and shaking it forcefully. They have a silent stare down for a second.
"Yes, we know who you are," my father says dismissively before turning to Blair. My blood boils. I know he detests Kaden, but he has no right to treat him this way.
"Sommers, it's good to see you again."
"You too, sir." She sends me a smile, silently wishing me luck before disappearing.
"Can you give us a moment?" My mother asks Kaden with a smile.
He nods and leaves, but not before squeezing my hand.
"I'm not going to repeat myself," my father says.
"Liam, give her a chance to explain herself," my mother says, rolling her eyes.
"I'm sorry," I say as I sit on the couch. "I didn't mean for all of this to get out."
"No shit."
"Liam," my mother warns.
"I'm talking about calling the arrangement off with Prince Alexander, not this press fiasco," my father sighs. "How do you think we felt when we got an angry call from the Danish, demanding to know why you and Alexander broke up?"
"I thought you guys knew."
"We only knew that you were sort of seeing an American boy, honey," my mom says.
"Juliet didn't tell you about the talk I had with Xander? I sent her a summary of our conversation."
"Don't try to pin this on her."
"I'm not trying to," I huff. He never listens to me. I'm convinced that I will always remain a small, irresponsible child in my father's eyes.
"We know. We came here to talk to you, not yell." She says the latter part through her teeth, aimed at my dad.
"Okay, just get it over with."
"Why didn't you end it with Kaden, as we told you to? And don't deny it. We know you guys are in love and have been seeing each other since December."
"Fucking Marc," I mutter.
"It wasn't Marc. Your sister sings like a canary when she is intoxicated."
That bitch. I should have known I can't trust her with anything.
My father looks at me and motions for me to answer.
