Thursday

You paused for a second, staring at him for what seemed like forever. "Oh, nice." You sarcastically commented. "Go ahead." You waved your hand as a signal, encouraging him to answer it, trying not to sound dispirited.

"Alright." He pressed the green button and placed the phone beside his ear, just like how you had taught him, "Rose-san?"

You eyed him from your seat, of course not trying to get caught. What kind of sad life am I living? What did I do to have to become the wing girl for my crush and my friend? You quietly thought to yourself, hallucinating that the bench you were both sitting on had started to elongate, taking you further away from him while he smiled on the phone. So near yet so far...

"Hm?" He caught you staring. "Hold on, Rose-san." He then covered the speakers of the phone and waved his hand in front of you.

You flinched and looked back at his kind eyes, "Daijoubu desu ka? (Are you alright?)" He mouthed his words in case Emily Rose could still hear.

"Oh—" You stuttered before nodding in reply.

He smiled back at you, comforting you to the very bone without him even knowing. He got back to his call and you turned to look at the scenery, wanting to block all the noise. But the back of your head thought differently and chose to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Sorry, Rose-san. I am currently somewhere, so I can't go to you right now." He said without mentioning the rooftop.

"Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I would say." He informed her after waiting a while. She probably asked every when they could hang out or something...

Then he suddenly paused, seeming as if he was trying to analyze something that she had said. "Sure!" He replied, "I've never been there so I guess you could show me the way!"

Their conversation continued. It wasn't a very long one but that was what it felt like to you. But soon, their call ended and he hung up.

"What did you guys talk about?" You asked, trying not to sound overly curious.

"She asked me if we could spend time together tomorrow after school."

You choked on your food almost immediately, eventually followed by continuous coughing.

"H- hey! Are you okay?!" Rengoku looked for your water jug and promptly passed it for you to drink. "Drink slowly..." He advised but you completely ignored it and chugged the water down.
