Last time:

"Do you remember your cousin?"

Now:

My eyes went wide, I had only heard about her once or twice. "Luka? I've never met her but I remember hearing about her."
He nodded, "Yeah, she's a hard girl to contact. Luckily for us, she should be awake right now."
I tilted my head a bit but he just laughed and ruffled my hair. He stood up and left the room, bringing his phone out. I curled in on myself. Sly was probably starting to get worried that I wasn't back yet. He'd come looking for me. Tears started to spill again as I thought about how they'd react. On the coffee table sat a blank piece of paper and a pen amongst other things. Hoping Uncle Loki wouldn't mind I picked up the pen and wrote a note.

For the Few,
I know you guys probably have a lot of questions. I'm sorry that I can't answer them. You guys are family to me but I have to leave. Please do NOT look for me. I am safe and you all will be too. Sly, I love you and always will.
Forever yours,
Jessica

I somehow managed to not get any tears on the note. Loki walked back in and I handed him the note.
I sniffled, "I hope you don't mind, but could you leave this in the Hall for the Few?"
He nodded, "Of course Jessie. I just got off the phone with Luka. She can take you in and give you a cover. Do you want to go tonight or..."
I nodded, "Sly's probably getting really worried. I need to get as far away as possible as soon as possible."
He nodded, "Alright, I'll teleport us to her place. Is there anything I can get you from your place?"
I took another sip of my hot cocoa, "Can you get my memory crystals and photos? They're in the vault in my room in the hall."
He nodded and outstretched a hand to me. I took it grateful for everything he's done. There was a whizzing sound and darkness, then followed by a new setting. Since I had been sitting before, I fell back since there was nothing underneath me anymore. I glared at Loki who started to laugh. He pulled me up by the hand he was still holding as someone turned the corner from another room. The woman had long orange-ginger hair that was shaved on the sides. She wore a plain black long sleeve crop top and a plaid asymmetric skirt. Holding a mug of what I assume to be coffee, she started snickering.
Taking a sip from her mug, she spoke. "Really Dad?" The amusement was clear in her voice.
I shot her a glare to which Loki laughs. "Hey kid. This is Jess, Jessica this is Luka."
She nodded, "Nice to meet you cuz. Welcome to my humble abode. Although I gotta say, was not expecting you guys until tomorrow."
I sighed, "I had to get out of there as fast as possible. Sly's probably already tearing the Hall apart looking for me." There was a bittersweet edge to my voice.
She gave me a sympathetic look, "I won't pry for any information. It's not my business. Lucky for you, we are miles from any civilization that even remotely knows about superheroes. It will be a long while until the Few even think about searching here."
I gave her a small smile, "Thanks."
She smiled back, "No problem. Now, you should probably head to bed before you collapse. There's a bedroom up the stairs and to the left. There's a bathroom right next to it too. We can talk about covers and such tomorrow."
I nodded and yawned. I walked up the stairs and to the room I would be staying in. I flopped on the bed and quickly fell asleep.

Loki's POV:

We watched as she walked up the stairs and to the room. I turned to Luka as she remained looking that way for a bit longer.
She shook her head, "That poor girl..."
I looked at her sadly. "Take care of her. I probably won't be able to contact the two of you much from now on. They'll blame me for her disappearance."
I could feel the anger radiating off of her. I mean, I couldn't blame her. When her mother found out that I was her father she almost killed Luka. I had to step in and take Luka away. Luka's mom is a human and humans don't exactly know the truth about me and other deities. Most think that I'm an evil trickster who wants to watch the world burn. In actuality, I'm the norse deity of transitions, harsh truths, and, yes, mischief. I personally take more pride in the transition trait but humans don't care. Superheroes don't really either. When Luka was young, I had taken her to live with me. She faced so many hardships simply because I was her father. At a certain point, she had enough and left. She swore off anything superhero and moved as far away as possible. Of course, we were on good terms but I was her only link to that world.
She looked to me, "You should be getting back. She'll be safe here."
I nodded, "Wish me luck."
She smiled as I grimaced, teleporting to her room in the Hall. Luckily, no one was there. I went to her vault, leaving the note by her hammer. I grabbed the box of memory crystals she had and going back to her bedroom, grabbed all the photos I could find. I made a point to avoid any photos of just her and Thor. I sighed. He snuffed out her light too soon. I could hear footsteps so I quickly teleported out of there and back to Luka's. I put the box next to the coffee table and said goodbye to my daughter. I teleported back to my house just in time to hear a knock at my door. Walking over as if I didn't just teleport back home, I answered the door. Wrong choice.
I chuckled nervously, "Y'know, being slammed against a wall in the middle is not my ideal time but sure, why not?"
Jin glared, "Where is she?"
Acting lessons come in clutch, "Who?"
He glared harder, "Jess." He growled out.
I looked at him with concern and confusion in my eyes, "Wait, Jess is missing?"
Before he could say another word, I pushed him off me and started running towards the Hall. Looking around wildly. I knew that Jess wouldn't be anywhere here, but acting is a wonderful skill. Running to her room, I threw open the door. Sly was already in there searching. I immediately went over to her bedroom, seeing that she wasn't there.
I started tearing up and mumbling, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no."
I ran to her vault, in the corner of my eye I saw her note next to her hammer. Walking over I picked it up and read it. Tears starting to fall from my face. I heard footsteps behind me. Someone snatched the letter from me but I didn't care. I was mourning the loss of a dear friend, a great light, and a wonderful niece. I heard sobs behind me but all I could think about was how enraged I was that Thor could do this to his daughter and everyone else here. I turned to storm out and saw him walk in the door. I glared at him. He was handed the note, read it and scoffed. The sorrow I felt bubbled into rage then into despair as I fell to my knees crying.

Aye, long chapter. Hopefully they'll all be around this long. I'm shooting for around 1000 words everytime (last chapter being an exception).
